Re: Would you take this as an insult?

Don't think any of them should get one for just doing their job well. They should be for people that go above and beyond. Personally I don't think winner did anything special, and doesn't desserve it. I think he's loosing his marbles actually.

"faceless bureaucrats from Whitehall?"
What gets in my craw is whenever there is a cock-up it's always "an un-named Govt.spokesperson" giving the bad news , When it's good news the buggers can't get in front of a camera fast enough , Local Govt. is just as bad if not worse .

Talking Re: Would you take this as an insult?

That’s correct grannyclaret.

CDM is a Cadbury’s Dairy Milk and my kids awarded me one a while back for services above and beyond the call of duty.

It wasn’t Xmas, Easter, my birthday or anything like that it just came out of the blue just because they wanted to do it. I value that gesture more than any ‘official’ award.

Re: Would you take this as an insult?

if a toilet cleaner gets an award is it because they clean more dificult toilets than the thousands of other toilet cleaners in the country ..?

no ones saying there is anything wrong with been a toilet cleaner but lets face it theres thousands of people do it and i cant see 1 particular toilet cleaner having a harder job of itthan any others so why award just the one ?

i clean my toilet and have even been known to wipe the seat if i splash especialy if i am at somone elses house so wheres my bloody OBE

mind you my how far can i pee up a wall competition may be whats keeping me from getting my award

Re: Would you take this as an insult?

I think the honors system should be scrapped too. I have a cousin who got an MBE just for being a civil servant for 20 odd years but my Dad worked for longer than that at one place and he didn't get an OBE, MBE or anything like that. Whose to say that my cousin works harder than my Dad did? It's a farce.
