Pennine Lancashire Food Festival

Pennine Lancashire Food Festival was launched this morning. Throughout the period 17th August to 17th September there are 60 food and culture events happening around Pennine Lancashire. 10 of the events are here in good old Hyndburn.

All of the events can be found on the website www.penninelancashirefestivals.com

But I need to tell you about a few of the biggies in Hyndburn

Meet in the bar at the Mercure Dunkenhalgh at 6.30pm where a mini bus will take you to Traders Brasserie, part of Accrington and Rossendale College, at the Globe Centre for your starter. After canapés, a glass of wine and a delicious starter the mini bus will then take you to Over Coffee in the centre of Accrington for your stylish main course and another glass of wine. You’ll then be collected again to return to the Mercure Dunkenhalgh for delicious dessert and coffee.
One glass of red or white wine or soft drink is included in the price of the starter and main course, a coffee or tea is included in the price of the dessert. Additional beers, spirit and wine can be purchased from the bar at each venue.
Dietary requirements can be catered for.

I'd just like to point out that last year Darwen had Mushroom Hunts in Sunnyhurst, several events at Turton Tower and much more. Prior to that the villages of Tockholes and Edgworth as well as the Town centre had lots of events. If you would like a brochure from 2006, 2007 and 2008 to confirm Darwen's activity i will happily supply one. The town was not shafter as you so politely put it.

There are booklets on every table about the events, in the scrumptious Over Coffee.

When you consider that the opening year (2005 I think it was), so many of the events were based in and around Darwen, recent years have seen less and less events in the town. The food market, for example, disappeared after the first 2 years, despite being well attended and supported.

I really enjoyed the first couple of years of the event, but in recent years more and more events have been moved away from the original centre. I still believe that Darwen was shafted, whether that is politely put or not!

Oh, and Turton, Tockholes and Edgworth are not in Darwen, as I guess you already know.

Hopefully the organisers have since realised this error and it has been this year

There was also the 'Eat as Much as You Want Midnight Feast', hosted by the doggers at Entwistle reservoir.
