Vaguely on topic.
When I was very little I used to think that the yellow bit inside the egg was what turned into a chicken until my Granddad explained it all to me. I could only have been about 3 at the time because I was 4 when he died and I remember helping him out with the hens and other birds (feeding, cleaning the muck out, collecting eggs etc). So very early in life I learned about the cocks and the chickens if not about the birds and the bees. The chicken came first. But the cockerel had to have come second or there'd never have been an egg which produced another chicken. |
