Which came first the chicken or the egg??

Today we were having a debate at work..........usual sunday stupid talk.
The conversation arose when one of the girls said she had, had a conversation with her partner about chickens. She was under the impression that a hen had to have a dooby doo (excuse me but this is a family forum so you older ones know what i mean) with a cock to produce a egg. She was also under the impression that if the hen sat on the egg for long enough that it turned into a baby chick..............but if she didn't sit on the egg that it cant turn into a chick. I noticed that quite a few girls at work didn't really know the answer to this question do you??

After we spoke to one of our elderly residents that was a farmer all her life and I am sure i know this answer now but do you???

You do need a coc-k in the house, l don't know why.

It may be like Nuns ovulating together, lunar and all that??

l'm a bit lost, over my head and all that,

Just like a woman a hen does not need a cock to have an egg but just like a women a hen does need a cock to fertilise it.

(having a jump without a cock doesn't work)
