interestin note here to make amends by c4/endemol

PLEASE NOTE: The media attention generated by Celebrity Big Brother this week is likely to produce a higher than usual number of votes for the Friday night eviction.

On this occasion Channel 4 has decided that all of the profits made from the voting lines will be donated to the charities sponsored by the housemates.

The cynic in me says this whole thing has been engineered for this very point to make Ch4 look good whilst increasing viewing figures.

Of course she hasn't.

I'd be most interested to read that poster's answer to what on earth Shilpa has said that is racist.

She said Jade could do with elocution lessons - can't argue with that. Jermaine said he can't understand her half the time - neither can I!

Anyone can be racist, colour or race is neither here nor there.

It's always the biggest cop out when some one says they aren't racist because they have a black friend.

The most blatent racism I have witnessed was by Indians in East Africa.

This is about bullying, and nothing to do with racism, as Shilpa herself said tonight.

I agree with what you said apart from that bit - there was a point on this forum when people who have friends of different races were accused of being racist when they pointed out that fact. It's a bit of a damned if you have and damned if you haven't situation.

I was so mad when they showed the nominations tonight asnd no numbers, and that it wasn't until 10.15 that C4 decided we could vote.

Tomorrow will be so interesting to see what the thicko makes of all this when she comes out.

To the critics of the programme, who think this is an unworthy news item, I think you are wrong. If it opens up a discussion, whjch it clearly has, of issues like bullying, and racism, in my book that's a good thing for our fragile society.

Totally, totally disagree.

So I can never be accused of homophobia because of my sexuality?

Of course I bloomin' could, just as anyone, of any race or ethnic background can be racist, despite who they are, or who their friends are.

Can I just go off on a slight tangent and ask if Jade had made remarks about a French person and said things like the French always gook with garlic could/would that have been considered racist and if not was it all that different from what she said about Shilpa?

That's not exactly the same thing that I meant. People were told that saying they had friends of different races automatically made them a racist.

So if someone accuses me of being homophobic and I say that I'm not, and add that I have a couple of friends who I know are gay and treat them no differently to other friends who are staright does that automatically make me homophobic because I've said that or because I have gay friends? I have other friends who are and always have been single so I haven't a clue what their sexul preferences are nor do I care as it doesn't matter to me one way or t'other. It would only matter if I was single and fancied one of them but I couldn't stand a chance because I was the wrong gender.
