I won't waste my time believing there is a God. If I did believe in God then I would like to think of him as good. I can't see any evidence anywhere of a supreme good being watching over us. So if there is a God be can't, in my eyes be a good person (or whatever) so I will not waste my time on Him.


Does that make sense to anyone? I know its late.

I suppose it does make sense. But in the sense that we have free will to belive in what we will. If there is a god, he/she/it may be omniscietnt, benevolent, and omnipresent. Or maybe just the prime mover of everything. Or maybe ... nothing at all. But the choice is yours; and belief is nothing if it is not personal.

It's clear that within the God of classical theism, there is an inconsistent triangle of Omniscience, Omnibenevolence and Omnipotence. The followers of this Abrahamic God throughout the ages have claimed that their God is in fact all these things - however, as Neil touches on, it is impossible to be all three with the world as it is.
I'm not religious or atheist or agnostic. I don't wish to be labelled by either, frankly. One of the few big problems I have with religion however is it's ability to indoctrinate children with society's acceptance. To paraphrase Dawkins, labelling a child (and from then on teaching it only Christian views on religion in the curriculum) a 'Catholic child' or a 'Protestant child', is borderline child abuse. It is indoctrination pure and simple, and would make as much sense to label the child a Marxist child or a socialist child :confused:

I am always willing to answer questions about my personal beliefs. It is never my desire to force my beliefs as that really is not possible or acceptable (IMO). I guess I could be "labelled" as a follower of a major religion but I truly don't believe I am.

I believe in the Bible as the Word of God. However, I despise how man has misused, misinterpreted, misapplied, so so much of this Book. Do I have all the answers or can I answer all the mysteries of the universe type questions. Nope, or better yet,"I just don't know why/how/when . . . "

For more on my beliefs. Here is my last correspondances with Ian. Please know, out of love for my fellow man, I merely wish to share (again share never force) what I believe. It's then purely up to each individual to make their own decision. Okay?

So kind of you to write. As no one knows the will of God, my prayer first for you is to have Peace. Then to have Hope, followed by freedom of pain and healing.

My Faith has gotten me through so many difficult times. Even the very many hurtful things that I've gone through, and God didn't seem to be anywhere near, I know He was. It must be so hard for God to see all our suffering. However, He knows that it's success through those bad times that can make us stronger as we struggle through this rotten world.

When the world says that God has abandon us, I say rather we have abandon Him. He has given us access through His Son Jesus Christ. And for that I find my Peace, Hope, and ability to survive day to day.

Keep Strong my friend and keep up with that wonderful laugh of yours!

The First World War destroyed not only millions of lives, but also the old, comforting social orders. People found themselves in a world where there was nothing much left to believe in. God took a real mauling in the conflict; not many who experienced the carnage on the Western Front, could hold on to their largely unquestioned religious beliefs. So one is stuck with lots of "isms": secularism, materialism, existentialism, communism (wich seemed merely to replace "god" with "party") national socialism (which seemed to elevate "satan") and many others one can think of. Add to this a developing science which, if it did nothing else, called into question the whole idea of "reality" and "fact."

When the props are gone, a convenient way ... maybe the only one ... out of the uncertainty is to believe strongly in something. There doesn't seem to be much, other than belief, keeping a lid on insanity and chaos. A quick glance at any major newspaper will show that the lid is not on all that tightly.

How to upset an evilgelical , was at the local grocery store today , parked in the next slot was a big ass Hummer SUV. belonging to a fish person ,on the rear window was a sticker saying " powered by Jesus" , the owner happened to be loading his stuff at the same time as me and I casually commented that maybe his sticker should read " Powered by stolen muslim oil" ,

I'm with Neil on the first three but,

Telepathy, why not? Perhaps a form of internal broadcast system, try to explain radio and t.v. to someone from 200 years ago that would have been an impossible idea back then. I might just be broadcasting away at this moment but I doubt that I'm on the same frequency as the rest of you so who is capable of listening? (or would want to?).

Telekinesis, definitly I manage to move plenty of liquids from one place to another without any physical effort.

De Javu, isn't that the feeling that you've seen this before? I usually get it when I'm watching freeview.
