The Urban Dictionary lent me this;

troll
One who purposely and deliberately (that purpose usually being self-amusement) starts an argument in a manner which attacks others on a forum without in any way listening to the arguments proposed by his or her peers. He will spark of such an argument via the use of ad hominem attacks (i.e. 'you're nothing but a fanboy' is a popular phrase) with no substance or relevence to back them up as well as straw man arguments, which he uses to simply avoid addressing the essence of the issue.

Seems apt mi thinks but then I am a small grain of sand in the Sahara.

Mind you I am getting ammusement out of this thread. :D

However, surely the principle should be that any new(ish) member should be treated on exactly the same basis as those who have been here for years.

JCB has professed his Christian beliefs. So What? There is nothing extreme about them. As far as I am aware, they are fully reconcilable with democratic debate and an open society so I don't see what the problem is. He may possibly have misinterpreted this website and even some of it's members but that is probably only through being a little clouded as to what it's about. He can't tell the comedians from the rest - but neither can I, and I've been on here for seven years. So give him time and don't be nasty to the guy.

I'm gobsmacked.

It's a shame you didn't read this first on your return this evening. Tip - it's always a good idea to read through subsequent postings on a theme before replying.

Now, while I don't profess to understand you, then neither can I understand most of the other characters on here so don't think you're alone. The key thing to remember is that for the most part, the people on this website are reasonably well educated and versed in stringing an argument togeather which usually involves a certain amount of humour. So don't get too upset when something or somebody does not quite fit in with any perceived reply you may possibly have imagined.

O.K. so now you've learnt how to fly, try looking at another thread you can put you're newly qualified bullshine into, the web is wide and covers the world don't let us hold you back.:)

Surely there can't be another one just like me.

If enough warning and it dosnt clash with anything I could well be there. Being away dosnt help. Better make sure I can sneeak past the border patrol. Those facists that try n keep me out of accy.

There have been a few and they all ended up on the pire never to bother us again. Though some are sad enough to be reincarnated and return to haunt us. Then they are hunted with no mercy making the Spanish Inquisition look like a summer village green tea party. :D

Do a search for any thread with a minimum of 16 pages, they are all like you, but don't be fooled, if many of them are started by 'Jam Butty', he was the most persistent but not the only one.

Have you looked anywhere else yet tonight?

Or are you stuck here as if it's a Cul-De-Sac in an old Bond 3 wheeler with no reverse?

Cant elucidate.I got a warning for putting a word in asterisks last night.

True.

Don't understand this Catholic Celtic and Protestant Rangers nonsense though.

If I use the word "Rangers" to her I'd end up a dead man.

He likes the attention.

He tried shouting his mouth off in a political thread, and not many bothered replying to his slurs.

Politics not working, he moved on to religion. With him as a persecured martyr, and bingo! The attention he craves was his.

He had no intention of debating religion, and perceived prejudices, within, or against, any religion.

He does have the right to express his views, as long as forum rules aren't broken.

But that same freedom is also available to those who wish to reply to his sometimes unfathomable posts.

It works both ways.

Though as stated earlier, only idiots run headlong into a battle, without first having a plan of how the land lies, or knowing you have enough weaponry to give yourself a fighting chance.
