Most unusual reasons for giving karma?

What has been the most comical or unique reasons why someone has awarded or deducted your karma?

Mine was yesterday I was awarded good karma for being c**p at the limericks thread! You know who you are ;) it had me in hysterics when i read it :rofl38:

Yes they do, Minx……..Here’s some recent ones

1. Your deserve Karma for listening to Dolly Parton.

2. I refuse to leave my name on the grounds that I may incriminate myself

3. To replace what some inept little **** took.

Can anyone explain? Is it because the person doesn't want to live in the UK, is it because I don't send out warm and fuzzy feelings to all UK residents?

The thing that person doesn't understand is that Roy started Accyweb when he was an ex-pat in Russia so that he & other ex-pats could keep in touch with their roots, it's we the residents of Accrington that are guests on this site not those living abroad. Now that Roy is moving permanently to Moscow with Nastya & Nina will he have to ban himself from his own website just to keep this person happy?

he should be able to find out through the admin control pannel but probably only does so when people make threats or are extremely abusive and stuff ..

when i was an admin on another forum there were plenty of things you could find out but i kept breaking everything so i limited my use of the admin pannel lol

On Behalf of Gayle Night 01-04-2005 19:10 The thread was started on Gayle Knight's behalf because she started hers in the wrong forum. She wasn't going to come back and start a new one. She wanted questions posted that she could come back to answer. They must think that Gayle is not clever enough to start her own thread.

Whoever it was did not sign it. I must have upset somebody by making a sensible suggestion. It was probably from one of the anti-panoptican lobby upset that the thread ended up making the project seem more sensible and useful than it had at first.

ime not sure if that appeared in a thread i started i dont have time to check right now but although i am very much against the panoptican project i have not yet deducted karma of anybody on here yet and like i have previously stated any karma good or bad always get my name added

exept when i sent someone good karma with a realy weird reason to see if it got on here

somthing about geese i cant recall now lol

In my defence l have to put this into context. Gobby had just deducted karma from me unsigned, but being that there was only the two of us on at the time l knew who it was. The deduction said l was "becoming arrogant." Like a big baby, and feeling rather peeved l hit back.

;) It doesn't do to make assumptions. What you think you see isn't always necessarily the case. Ask Doug and Busman for confirmation of that.

Lol, as well as using scientific deduction, us being the only two registered users on line at that moment in the early morning, l'm also gifted at mind reading!

l know what your thinking now. l'll take it as a compliment. :)

Gobsmacked 04-04-2005 07:30

Re: Most unusual reasons for giving karma?

There you go again - lol - assuming that my reference was to the users online rather than the possibility that I am aquainted with your Aunt. I had made an assumption of my own that your Aunt must be a generation older than you but my wife has explained to me that such a conclusion may not necessarily be accurate.

Your "scientific deduction" is admirable but based on flawed data of which you were probably unaware.

I wasn't aware that you had a talent for mind reading. What was I thinking? I can't actually remember now but if you remind me it may jog my memory.

garinda 04-04-2005 09:18

Re: Most unusual reasons for giving karma?

The assumption that you may know my Aunt was a joke.
In your personal info. l discovered you and her are the same age, you also mentioned knowing girls at The High School were she was a pupil. When l discovered you both now live in the same part of the country l made a joke. l think she would have been a bit out of your league though, as like a lot of girls of that age she dated older men, and never scousers. :)

p.s. l knew you weren't thinking anything at that time! Good aren't l?

What's the big deal about 'Karma'??

Is anyone really THAT bothered??

Some you agree with, others you don't.

SO WHAT!!!!

You don't agree, post a comment, or PM the poster.
Lively discussion is what this site is all about, & all the better for it.
Why upset posters by deducting 'Karma' ??
Does 'giving' actually encourage anyone??
Does the opinion of a poster with , say, 10 points, have 10 times more value than someone with just one point??
I think not!!

(expect several deductions!!)

I WILL be keeping an eye on mine now!!

WillowTheWhisp 07-04-2005 15:48

Here's a good one. I just got karma deducted for trying to be helpful :D

If an animated gif save... 07-04-2005 16:12 Why paste all that when you can simply add the link http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;810978

The funny thing is that the link doesn't actually contain everything that was in my post so apart from the fact that I'm supposed to be psychic and find that link how about the rest of it?

Tinkerbelle 07-04-2005 16:38

Re: Most unusual reasons for giving karma?

I have to disagree I think karma is fun, but I just don't take it too seriously. Some of the reasons that people deduct and give good karma is really funny that's what this thread was started for. I never take bad karka personally but I don't like nameless bad karma, if someone has an issue with something another has posted it can be discussed by PM if a name is given. I for one know I've given good karma for good posts but have given silly reasons for it because it's fun :D !!

slapperdapper 07-04-2005 17:58

Re: Most unusual reasons for giving karma?

Karma is all falsified anyway........people have over 100 but what do they earn it for,on some of the posts i have read i wouldn't bother!
I think it is just friends giving it to each other to make themselves look better.
Too many people abuse this system by giving people bad karma because they have given a point of view that they may not like.
This is a discussion forum, people have different views on different subjects, why be penalised for it?
Me personally,i dont give a sh*t.
It doesn't make you a better person if you have over 100 karma,it just means you have more friends on here!!!!!

I think it is just friends giving it to each other to make themselves look better.
..............

It doesn't make you a better person if you have over 100 karma,it just means you have more friends on here!!!!!

I don't think I'm a better person than anyone else. I currently have 124 karma points and I've had a lot of deductions too. I think it's more down to the fact that I waffle a lot and have plenty to say that people agree with and disagree with. Until I joined AccyWeb I didn't know any of the other members apart from Busman and he says he can't remember ever having given me karma.

I've had karma from people I've never even met who I wouldn't know from Adam. Sometimes the comments I've had alongside the karma have been very pertinent to the post in question. How do you know which posts people have been given karma for and whether just because you wouldn't bother that means everyone else feels the same way? I gave you some for a post which I felt said something significant and said it very well.

Too many people abuse this system by giving people bad karma because they have given a point of view that they may not like.
This is a discussion forum, people have different views on different subjects, why be penalised for it?
Me personally,i dont give a sh*t.

Slapperdapper, you seem to know a lot about our system considering your a new user, I noticed in a few posts you don't appear too new. I'd just like to point out now that the use of multiple user names is against the rules and if I find out you are somebody else as well I will ban both accounts.

As for Karma, I'll say it again, it is here to stay. It is one of the features of accyweb that gives me the most chuckles, seeing how people get so stressed about recieving bad karma then always saying they don't care about it and then the next minute complaining about it again, I love it, but I am slightly evil...

The law of Karma teaches that responsibility for unskillful actions is born by the person who commits them.

Ohh I'm not sure I like that Less. We could all be devoid of personhood and suffering the effects of after-karma. That is if we even exist at all.

quick question about karma if its ok

i have the power to give 2 points yet people with a lot lower karma can give 3 or 4 points

is this because i havnt deducted karma from people ..?

WillowTheWhisp 12-04-2005 13:18

Re: Most unusual reasons for giving karma?

I think the power comes from lots of other things as well as how much karma you've got yourself.

No Chav, your power is not only the amount of karma you have but also posts and length of time as a member, there may even be more factors but there the ones I know.
