Accrington Train Station

Just been sent this smashing view of Accrington train station, showing Howard and Bulloughs (known now as The Globe) in the background.

This brings back memories. I can recall climbing the wall at the top of Grant Street near the underground, to watch as the steamtrains let off steam before entering the station. I can also remember putting pennys on the rails and being really impressed by the way they were flattened after the engines had rolled over them. Simple pleasures which kept me occupied for hours.

That driver should be warching the signals ahead, instead of smiling for his piccy to be taken. No wonder there are accidents on the railways.

That train is off to Manchester, I believe.

Amazing how the railways have fallen since then, what used to be a massive train network is now a shambles.

don't think so beechy, that looks like the " Dead End" bit off the central platform. the line layout looks like towards the sheds.
