Kate, you do sell yourself short........your pictures are beautiful.
Send some of them into the Observer, they are keen to promote local photo's. I am sure they would be happy to print any of those. |

And so she should....her pics were lovely, but then so are yours........and what do you think the rest of us do........Other than point and shoot?
Sometimes you can over analyse the shot you are going to take and miss the lovely light or a piece of the action. Like I say get some of them put onto the Observer site.......the first one is beautiful.....the light through the trees and on the snow. and the one of Barnes Square too, the colours and the light make it a lovely shot. |
Re: Snow photos - Dec 2009
The one of the two stone pillars near the Park is a good shot too......the orange sun through the trees.....lovely.

Am really "peeved" that I have missed all this lovely snow in Accrington this weekend. Have been working at Huddersfield, so here is a photo just to prove I take my camera everywhere with me! tee hee
There are some lovely photos on - Barnes Square area and Whalley Road. SMASHING! Well done! |

Have just risked "life and limb" to go for a walk in the snow. No sign of any gritting machines anywhere! Been told its "treachorous" in Accy town centre.
Photos around Christ Church area looking over the town and in Oak Hill Park. |

If you see a gritting machine around your way take a picture of it, just to show they still exit. I have not got a clue what's going with the gritters. |
Re: Snow photos - Dec 2009
Atarah, they were telling the truth........Accrington town centre, especially Broadway and Union Street could easily double for a skating rink.......except that the ice is pitted and uneven, making it even more deadly.......and there were two HBC chaps wielding brushes and those pick up tools.......should they not have been given a bag of rock salt and be scattering that about?.......or if there isn't any money for rock salt, then how about breaking the ice up.
Perhaps it isn't covered by their contract of employment. |

This is what I saw today, as I "skated" into town.
A bashed up car on Manchester Road, a skating rink on the cut through between Broadway and Peel Street, a skating rink on Broadway, and cheerful Council workers, attacking the ice on the pavements in the good old fashioned way, with a shovel and elbow grease! |
