A shortish walk today, from Vicarage Lane in Whalley through the fields to Spring Wood.

1. This stream will soon be close to houses, they are building from Whalley main Road right up to the edge of Spring Wood.
2. Whalley Nab just before we enter the woods and under the bypass.
3. These are the woods in question.
4. As we enter Spring Wood I am met by a whole drift of this Orchid.
5. There are a few tree stumps around the woods that people knock coins into, no idea why!
6. The Ferns now dominate under the canopy, if it was a bit warmer you would mistake it for tropical.
7. The cows are correct, it's raining now.
8.Heading back down in the rain, just a glimpse of the viaduct in Whalley.

Had a couple of hours up Pendle this evening, didn`t need to look for the Peregrines, they found us tonight.

Some bumps and puddles I saw on a drive today.

Great shots, all of them. Particularly like the clouds.

It was a remarkably clear morning sky in these parts today. In the words of Canadian songwriter Jane Siberry: "A Speckless Sky:)

It started off very sunny here, but nose dived later in the day.

when you set off from home walking the tedster the sun shining, lovely blue skies and white fluffy clouds ... you think I don't need a waterproof .. so you take a wander around oakhill park, Haworth park, and wander back along bash lines ... and guess what it started raining while we were walking back under the trees on bash lines ... :p

Some Canadian All Too Short Summer madness...
I bought a few bargain priced ready-planted pots without really knowing what the flowers would turn out to be. Happy to see some Fuschias - I used to call them 'fairy flowers' when I was little, lilies, and bright red geraniums. The colour red attracts hummingbirds. It seems to be working. I keep my feeder filled with fresh syrup for them and every so often I hear a whir of wings. I was lucky enough to have my camera close by, and sat very still for ages as they're quite shy.

I'm not sure Jen, but I think its an Osteospermum or South African Daisy. I didn't look at the label when buying it, but liked the colour. I'll get back to you about it closing at night :)

Today was a walk on Pendle Hill to check out the cotton crop, just a pity the pollen count was on the high side.
