Re: Today in pictures
Oh Russell...all that preparation!
That said your pics are...as always.....very acceptable. Saturday was a rotten day in this neck of the woods. Looks like it was a bit inclement there as well. I am always reluctant to take my cameras out in the wet. The phone did a good job. Love the mini! |

Yes I felt really sad for the birds, they were still about today and the water level has gone down completely. I did see them mating again - I'm assuming it's the same pair. |
Re: Today in pictures
Hope they are luckier this time.

Had the island been a little higher or the rain not as heavy and prolonged they would probably have been ok.
This was the image I got of them mating at the beginning of May. |

Iridescent flowers.
I painted these myself. Not much of an artist...and I can't compete with Russell's good lady. Her pictures are just spectacular....I am so envious of her skill. |
Re: Today in pictures
Thank you Margaret, I wil pass your comments on to her.
She is busy looking after me at present.. I've just spent a couple of days in Blackburn Hospital and I was a bit apprehensive after the negative comments about the place but I have nothing but praise for ALL the staff who made my stay comfortble. Even the surgeon came to show me the photos they took inside me when they removed my gall bladder. I even enjoyed the rice pudding they gave me. |
Re: Today in pictures
Russell, you take care and get well at your own pace....or as my good friend and gynaecologist used to say 'hasten slowly'.
Glad your experience in the big house up the hill was positive. I know that they looked after my dear old Ma like she was the queen(which to me, she was) Glad you liked my efforts at painting. |
Re: Today in pictures
As a footnote, not sure what will become of my painting....it might get framed and gifted as a present, or it might find itself on the front of a card.
Where ever it goes, it was done with love in every brush stroke. |
Re: Today in pictures
I’m sure my good lady will appreciate your efforts Margaret.
It’s a very intricate detailed painting. I’ll report back when she’s seen it later. |
Re: Today in pictures
I should tell you Russell, that the image is stamped (using a clear acrylic panel stamp)and heat embossed using gold powder.....my painting is the colouring in.
I used iridescent water colours and was unsure if the technique would work....it was one of those ideas that come to you in the wee small hours when everything is still. I am my sternest critic.....and I like it....so that says something. |

Same stamped image....heat embossed in gold and then coloured with the same iridescent paints....but different colour ways.
One done on white card...one done on black |

Re: Today in pictures
Food for the soul.
Very difficult to choose a favourite, because they all have something about them. I love the sunset surfer, but I also like number ten with the rainbow tucked away in the left hand side.....sort of nature's afterthought. I love Cornwall, it has a kind of 'earth magic'.....I cannot explain that, but it has the power to make you feel good. Ma loved it too. |
