Dont give up on your potatoes just yet . That happens sometimes, they may regrow . But it will depend on the type you planted . as i already know, you dont know which type you planted , i can only go off what you post on here!! I had planted a main crop potato last year , and they resprouted..

West Ender might give you some tips she is an avid gardener.:)

Just checked West Enders blog and she helped her grand-daughter grow a pumpkin for a competition. Sure she will be happy to pass on her tips:)

Flashy you might be watering them too much - might be an idea to water them every other day and not drown them either. What kind of drainage did you put in the bottom of the containers?

i'll just leave them then Davey, if they grow they grow, if they dont then there isnt much lost, my dad reckons i planted too many in each tub anyway, but hey not to worry lol

planted some spuds in one of those sacks you can get ( meant to be for spuds )
they had loads and loads of green leaves and looked really well:

HOwever when I came to pick them... nothing one spud per plant

what did I do wrong?

I even fed them with the special food for spuds and did everything by the book....

so Aunty Bessy mash it will have to be for tea

Thanks for that Bernie, I might just ask her for a few tips i'd hate for Siobhan to be disappointed if it dosen't grow.

there are 3 different types of potato
first early
second early
main crop

you can buy these at garden centres , wilkos and woolies.
I always go for a main crop ie king edward.or desire which is a red main crop potato. they both have a long growing season

Cheers David:

is it too late now to plant any? thanks

Re: growing your own veggies

Dont think you could buy seed potatoes at this time of year. so i suggest you go to a fruit and veg shop , and ask if they have any that have sprouted? its not the best thing , but its getting a bit late in the season . we will get some smart arse saying "just buy a bag of spuds "
