i save a lot of money by freezing stuff, we dont use a lot of bread in our house, i only buy 1 loaf a week cos we hardly eat it, i keep the bread in the freezer and take out a couple of slices when we need it, it saves it going green before we've used it all :D

Just got 3 peppered steaks from Asda for £2 there is no fat all steak and really nice worth a try .

How about adding the cost of actually cooking the food costs to here? I make two dinners at a time to save fuel. ie. one chilli and one shepherds pie.Cook the mince and onions together then split the mix into two and carry on with other ingredients. Cook both in the oven, saves fuel again. Have one dinner today and fridge the second to be heated in micro next day.Roast one day and casserole cooking at the same time ?

I have a small paperback book called 'Will it Freeze?'
It is a valuable source of info when avoiding food waste

You might not know that bananas should be kept away from other fruit because as they ripen they emit a gas which causes other fruit to ripen faster, and, rather than throw away overripe bananas, you can freeze them pureed for future use in smoothies and cakes.

Overipe tomatoes can also be pureed and frozen for use in sauces and soups

PS - dont throw away limp lettuce -make soup

i freeze milk cos i dont have a fridge.... if you freeze butter defrost it in the fridge cos it seperates if you dont...

anyone like smoothies? its not a special offer really but you can get tropical smoothie mix (bag of frozen fruit lol) for 39p at farmfoods and they are selling 2 cartons of fresh orange for £1.... one bag (mixed with orange) made a pint and a half of really nice smoothie :D

Also if ya freeze ya milk make sure ya take a cupfull out beforehand, because it expands when freezing:D, oh and check it aint got any cracks in the bottle before ya defrost too otherwise ya will get it all over:eek:
If it has ruptured it's better not to use the milk.
defrost in the fridge too;)

a lot of the meat is on an offer - eg buy diced beef at 3.50 - or get two for 6.00 so you getting a pound off at least - it seems expensive if you buy weekly shop but i buy monthly so these offers are not too bad - same with some shampoos etc -
