Q1. If a problem occurs with the unit will you be able to deal with Asda or go through manufacturer

Q2. to anyone who has bought this laptop can you check if the code below appears anywhere on the box, and if it does where
(it corresponds to the model number and spec)

Q1. Legally your contract is with the store, not the manufacturer and legally it is the store that you would take it back to if the good was faulty, or becomes faulty before a reasonable length of time (Section 14(I think S14 anyway), Sale of Goods Act 1974) However lots of companies ignore this law as most people do not know their rights. I think Asda's return policy is 28 days no quibble and then they will try and fob you off the manufacturer like most big companies do, however, if you took them to court over it you would win everytime.

Q2. Yes that is the model number.

Thanks for the tip-off on this. Mrs Kevolution has been eyeing up this machine for a few weeks so when I told her a quick visit to Asda was in order.

Seems to be working well at the moment although we're still trying to get to get the QQ messenger system properly installed and working. I'd probably have it fixed by now but she's discovered the joys of Frozen Bubble.

Glad that someone has made use of the offer :)

Picked one of these up today, nice handy bit of kit, ideal for what I need it for, not too sure about Limpus yet, that might have to go, just configured everything and its working well, just got to get it to connect with the Omnia now so I can use it away from home, It's not playing ball at the min
I got 160gb as well, had to take one back though, wouldn't boot up at all, don't think the software had been loaded onto the machine

Not suer if these are in teh linpus software repository but you could ask her to look for these

You've used QQ? I'm mildly impressed. We did find a Linux version of QQ but it gave us a couple of problems so we've shelved that until I can take the time to translate and look over the documentation.

The built in messenger with the aspire is actually quite nice, not quite as flexible as Pidgin (which I normally use) but that little bit slicker.

K.S.H., you weren't behind us in the queue at the customer service desk this morning were you?

I have, got everything working that I need, don't need hibernate or the card readers, got wi-fi working in about 10 mins, easy fix - hardest thing was remembering my password, hadn't typed it for ages :)

You needed to fix it - that is still the unfortunate thing with Linux.

You don't have to fix something everyday though with a dozen restarts in between ;)

Your average Windows user does not have to do that. Its just those that mess about with it that do.

The restart thing is true, it even does it itself after updates
