The Palace was near the bottom of Rhyddings St opposite the mill. There are new houses there now. It was owned and run by Mr Saporiti. He used to turn the heating up so he could sell more icecream, and was at the door as you arrived and left. My parents had 4 balcony front row seats booked for us every Saturday night. That was in the days before television.

Before it was sidewalk it used to be the Astronaught with the Apollo upstairs, at the time it was the only place were we could drink Breakers, many a brilliant night was had in there.

cashman, I,m sure the photo of the Accy Tech is actually the Accy Grammer school. I went to the tech up Ossy too, just a few years before you.
