50s/60s local beauty queen
OK one for the wrinklies and older folks who use this site , .......anyone remember the local girl, think she came from Huncoat or Simonstone area who used to do the national beauty contests in the late 50s early 60s ? having flashbacks here and seem to remember she used to knock about with Derek Dougan (Blackburn Rovers player) and described her occupation on televised beauty competions as a 'milkmaid', she will have to be in her 60s these days .....wonder how time has treated her and what happened to her in her life ....
 She used to appear regularly on the early Saturday evening TV program (black and white TV) broadcast from a different resort every week  |

I remember her - she originates from Clayton-le-Dale, not our Clayton-le-Moors, so I would not describe her as one of 'ours'.
I once saw her with Dougan in the stand watching Burnley. Close up she had orange make up that looked 1/2" thick. (miaooww)

steeljack valerie martin won miss great britain in 1959when it was held in morecambe.and yes she was a very good friend of the doog ..

Here she is winning in 1959, with I think a young Patrick MacNee, whom I presume was a judge. (Is the other man Adam Faith?)
