Post bonkers for conkers

Well, the leaves are starting to turn into their burnig  Autumn coluors, and the kids should be out looking for conkers....
Not sure they still do though.
For us oldies however: do you remember all the conker games? What were the rules? If you won once your conker was a oner, then a twoer, then a threeer etc. How was it?
I used to pickle mine in vinegar to make them harder. Some people varnished theirs, but I'm sure that was cheating wasn't it....?
Where were the best ones found? anyone know?

Better what where you put yer feet under a gum tree then, can never get the blooming stuff off again!
My favourites have to be Beech trrees, could lie under them for hours soaking up the sun!

Post Re: bonkers for conkers

Apparently there is a shortage of conkers this year, due to weather conditions, and they are being sold over the internet at silly prices, to anyone who needs them for conker competitions and such! :
