Mouse trouble

I've got an optical mouse which is behaving oddly. If it was a mouse with a ball I would assume the ball was mucky or stuck up with fluff or something.

What is happening is that sometimes nothing is happening. When I move the mouse the cursor doesn't always move. It's as if it's stuck there. This is not good when doing the quiz as it refused to move to the check score thingy and so looked like I'd taken longer than I had.

Any ideas what I can do? (Don't say buy a new mouse!)

Re: Mouse trouble

have you tried cleaning the window bit underneath the mouse. Do you use a mouse pad? If so is it dirty. Try using the mouse on a different surface and see if it works better then. I use mine straight on the desk and it works fine.

Re: Mouse trouble

I tried it directly on the desk but no difference and I did a bit of a dust of the mouse's bottom.

OMG I laughed.....I can just image willow and a mouses bottom......oh no Slinky stop it, stop it NOWWWWWWWWWWWW

This actually reminds me of something very funny. My mate bought a pc and she has a glass PC stand. She kept trying the optical mouse but nothing happened. So we borrowed another mouse off her neighbor...still nothing. In the end we thought it was the USB port that wasn't working so we swapped it.....still nothing. after a while of thinking what could be wrong, I picked a piece of card up and put the mouse on it and it worked perfect the moral of the story is..........MOUSES DONT WORK ON GLASS

We've got some rat poison in the shed but I somehow don't think it will help.

I'm stuck with a mouse that doesn't need glasses (OPTICAL PROBLEMS) and happy with that, just have to de-fluff it every now and again.
