Problem with DVD writer

I have been having a problem with my computer and the DVD writer - the problem is the computer does not recognize the DVD (Or CD writer drive) any longer. I have narrowed it down to a problem ( I think ) in the registry - below

'Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device'.

can any one help please....?

P.S I have clicked on the 'troubleshoot' button and uninstall the device (DVDr) and then gone into 'control panel' and then onto ADDhardware - my computer finds the device but it says problem with you harddive?

Re: Problem with DVD writer

Thanks - yeah I have 'system mechanic' on my machine but that didn't solve the problem - but the program is really good. I have managed to fix the problem its seem that there was two keys in the registry that shouldn't have been there. I did a search on goggle (for code 19) and low and behold there have been a few with the same problem. I would have never found the dodgy keys myself - thanks for the input.
