Had nothing but problems , we have sky tv so thought we`d do the sky thing where you get tv , phone , internet. So we decided to change from aol internet because sky was cheaper and cant get the internet working at home. Ahh! We was with what people call AOHELL but i think it was great had no problems what so ever. Anyone else had problems with sky broadband?

Re: Sky Broadband

Modem or router, do you get an ADSL Sync light? Have you tried a different microfilter (You do have one don't you?)

TBH Guys at PC world are on teh whole useless (I'm sure there is one that proves the exception but I wouldn't trust them with yours)

Re: Sky Broadband

I like it when people put a micro filter at both ends of an extension lead

Re: Sky Broadband

My father had problem along the same lines with Sky. He is running Vista on his pc.

A PC World technician told him to put the installation disc in and start from scratch. This he did but he could still not get an internet connection. Father was a bit vague on telling me what the fault was but apparently in the Control Panel, I assume in Internet Connections , there is a graphic of the PC and next to it a graphic of the world. Between the two there was a large red X he was told to click on this red X. Upon doing so, his PC connected to the internet. That was last week, still ok this week. Hope this helps. Cant be more specific as I don’t know what Vista looks like.

Try the various anti virus and spyware progs which can be downloaded free. AVG is a good anti-virus freebie. Then there's adaware and spybot and another one I have temporarily forgotten the name of for the malware.

He does have a firewall that is secure doesn't he? I seem to recall that teh current average time for an unfirewalled XP computer to be infected is under 30 seconds.

go to http://ww.grc.com and do teh shields up tests. If it fails on any of them he needs to get that sorted first.
