The Language Problem

Not just the Spanish/English stuff but also computer talk.

My internet connection has been bad for months and phoning the telephone company hasn't helped much because my Spanish doesn't go as far as technical terms and my English doesn't either!

I took the computer to an English speaking expert this week who decided that, several mending men ago, my legal Windows XP had been updated with an illegal copy. He was sure that, after he had reverted it back to the original and updated it, my internet would be ok.

It worked fine for about an hour. Now I'm back to the off/on thingy. I went back to the mending man again and he said that my computer is fine. The phone company say that the line is fine.

It is doing my head in and I would love to throw the whole lot into a skip.
Cutting your nose off to spite your face comes to mind. Has anyone any suggestions?

Heat?

Is it the actual PC that's switching off? We have one that does that and we've concluded that it could be the room it's in which does get a tad warm. It may need a new fan. (Ours I mean.) It worked fine elsewhere but as soon as it came back here it started acting up again.
