Without doubt it is better to use a scart lead. However there are different quality scart leads. Best rule of thumb is to get the best one you can afford. Also miss out on gold pins - they cost a bomb and as the sockets are not gold plated you may get a slight signal loss.

Personally I don't think it matters but it goes without saying that phono plugs have been around for a lot longer than scart, I would advise you to use whatever you feel better with.

Scart all the way for me. Although on a older tv set, scart wont matter to much because its old. On the other hand hook a scart or s-video cable from a dvd player or the like to a plasma tv and prepare for total satisfaction  ;D

Re: scart or phono

scart are a pain in the @#$% by phono i'm guessing you mean what we call in oz RCA i much prefer to use them , there is no technical reason why scart is better than rca they are just wires on a plug , i think maybe the inventors of scart thought about expansion on their plugs thats why there is sooo much room to add extra wires but they're not needed. good gold plated rcas are fine

defo scart leads are better providing they are 21pin and your tv has rgb but the only downside is the cheap ones come out of the tv to easy which caues no sound or doggy couler

As others have said, Scart can carry more than just composite video. If you have more than one scart on the TV make sure you know which is RGB as usually only one is.
