So it'll be Germans picking on the Greeks again & Portugiesies cashing in Czechs. :) Sounds like the EU. :D
|
Re: Euro 2012
Safe to say Holland looked bad and Portugal looked good tonight "twinkle toes" had his boots on and was a decent game..all in all this has been an entertaining week thanks to the Euros.. bring on the Ukraine!
|
Re: Euro 2012
I watched the Krauts, not as good as norm, but relentless. only side thats won all 3 in this comp, plus all 10 qualifying matches. What was pathetic though at 1-1 the danes should have had a penalty, Pundits said it was a stonewall un, I never thought so, until the slow replay, How those knobs can call the ref fer that is beyond me.......... N i wanted the krauts to get beat.
|
Re: Euro 2012
I watched the Portugal/Holland game, a good one with Portugal worth the win. Looks like it should be Portugal and Germany going through to the semis with lots of possibilities who their opposition will be.
|
Re: Euro 2012
Not a bad game today, Spain played the nice footy but Croatia had more than their share of chances. Spain win 1-0 on an offside goal but just about deserved to go through.

Re: Euro 2012
I agree with both posts,I think in the premier that goal would have been offside. Help me out as any team been awarded a penalty kick even though there have been numerous fouls in the box, have they banned them?
|
Re: Euro 2012
Sorry Jaysay, if the score had ended 1-1 Spain would still have gone through.
There would have been no advantage by any team as Spain, Italy and Croatia would then have tied all their games. They would have all ended on 5 points so Spain would still have won the division with Italy second and Croatia third on goal difference. I know, clear as mud but there it is!!! |

I can safely say that was the most dire 1st half of any game I've watched so far in this tournament :(

0-0 we're still there, it isn't pretty. If Rooney had lost a couple of pounds he might have got up to that header. 45 to go, come on you dozy crows.

Calzoni to go Sunday night & some garlic breads please ! :D

Re: Euro 2012
Of course a much better second half specially by England but the Ukraine were no better.. would never have thought we would win the group but yet again job done so nowt to moan about.

That's the best I've ever seen Gerrard play in an England shirt, he was great and fair do's Terry had a great game too. The big let down today was Parker, he was totally lost, Milner ran his socks off but just is,'t good enough and I thought Welbeck should have been sub'd.
That was one great save from Hart, pushing that swerving ball out. Bring on the woperoos. |

Is the way they give points and thus judge a teams worthiness and ability fair? Not sure. There should be some points for goals that would make it fairer.
Anyway who's going to put their money where their mouth is and say England to get to the finals!? |
Re: Euro 2012
No chance of the Germans in the final, if we beat the Italians we play the winner of Germany/Greece in the semi. The final won't be any easier either Spain,Italy,Portugal, no easy meat there. If we win it we will deserve it, I won't bet on us with more than a pint.

Germany and Portugal have played the best games so far, but back in 2004 Greece came out of nowhere and won it so who knows?
|
Re: Euro 2012
In football, as in hockey, possession, dominating control of the ball (or the puck;)), shots on goal etc. doesn't count at the end of the game. What does count is how many shots actually end up in the net. I remember that first Chelsea game against Barca. In the first half, Barca outshot Chealsea several billion to one, and dominated the play. Yet they went into the dressing room one goal down. So much for shots on goal and having possession for 95% of the half.;)
|
Re: Euro 2012
So, Portugiesies are the first semi finalists, reckon they'll be up against Spain again myself. That said I also thought the Cloggies were on to win the event at the start. :o
(one reason I don't bet :)) |

Germany V Greece tonight - morally and politically Greece should win because that wlll be sticking it to the Germans who are controlling them financially in the EU. Football wise it should be the Germans.

Got to agree with the consensus, I'd like the Greeks to do the Germans although it seems a tall order, it'd certainly shut a few gobby locals up. Here's hoping, "Give it the Gyros Lads !". :D

How the hell is it only 1-0 at half time, the most one sided game I've seen so far, wonder if the Greeks will turn up and make a game of it in the second half
|
Re: Euro 2012
Ah well, a Greek tragedy was avoided, 4 -2 against the Hermans, not bad going when you consider their first half performance for at least 5 minutes they were living the dream at least.
Are we looking at an England - Germany semi ? How very tantalising. :) |

All this racial harmony...
Reminds me of this: YouTube - Monty Python:Never Be Rude To an Arab And may the best team win, as long as its not the Krauts, Fogs, Spics etc dammed Johnny Foreigner:jimbo: |
Re: Euro 2012
Spain - Portugal it is then, should be quite an entertaining match, hard to call but I think Portugal may just edge it on the night.
|
Re: Euro 2012
Such low key support from the Spanish and French...no passion from the fans in a quarter final and sometimes seemed like the game was being played in a grave yard!.. reckon the England and Italian fans will be in good voice Sunday win or lose!
|
Re: Euro 2012
Well what ive seen so far Italy are the only team i'm dubious about beating, The reason being, the style they play against the style we are playing in the euros, as i said before, if they score first wev'e had it. Spain were streets ahead of France tonight, but never looked like netting a ponfull. Portugals defence don't look that great, Of those through the Krauts have been the best n still fancy us to lick em if we get through.
|
Re: Euro 2012
Well I didn't watch much of the game last night, football on Saturday Night her in doors would have gelded me if I'd even mentioned Spain V France especially when she'd already said suppose you'll be watching England tomorrow night with that, I hate flaming football look, but listening to Keano and co at half time it appears that the frogs never turned up, well I hear that there was a bit of infighting, so probably they got their justs

Re: Euro 2012
Forget the penalties, was only one side in it fer 105 mins, we had a 15 min spell in first half n that was it,after that was only one side gonna win the game, Was well deserved, n don't worry Dave, the wops will murder the krauts.;)
|
Re: Euro 2012
Couldn't agree more Cashy, Hart, Johnson, Cole, Terry and Lescott played well, the rest were passengers. Not sure about your prediction on the semi though, I fancy Germany for a pint. Might be a couple of years before you get it though.
|
Re: Euro 2012
England throughout the tourement were out classed.
Hart, worked his socks off as did Terry and Gerrard. But overall it just was not good enough, as usual |
