Re: Euro 2012
Did Young actually put a foot right all night to me he should have been one taken off, but they were second best for most of the game so going out on pens wasn't quite as hard to take as usual, but the Eyeties hadn't read the script its usual 0-0 after extra time England go out to Germany on penalties:D
|
Re: Euro 2012
Could not understand why Young remained on after 1 Hr when first subs were used, fer me hes been crap all tournament.

Re: Euro 2012
I dunno ... I've got a different take on the game ... maybe because they showed a different version of the game in the colonies; or maybe I've been watching too much hockey for 45 years;) England, considering the off field bs problems, and having a manager that not too many folks had any respect for, did a damn fine job. Significantly better than the Netherlands for example. That defence looked fantastic ... all they need to do now is develope a break away type of play ... you guys might know the players who could do this ... then England will be a team to be feared ... This type of football might not be pretty to watch, but it will win games.

Hodgson did very well in a short space of time IMHO, But to take us one step further, fer me he needs to learn em the basics of football, They aint on the same wavelength as the better sides, during his short spell at the helm, i have seen possibilities to do so, If not we will remain as also rans.;)

Re: Euro 2012
This is only my opinion mind, but I think a lot of the problem is that damned Premier League ... the owners take the short cut to making money by buying foreign talent and paying them the big bucks, rather than developing young English talent. You can't tell me that Italian kids, or German kids are "racially" more talented than English kids. Take a lesson from us dumb colonials. The Stanley Cup winning L.A. Kings had fifteen Canadians on their team. That's 'cause in Canada, youngsters start playing organized hockey before they are weaned. Boys and girls. There are more women in organized hockey in Canada than there are in the rest of the world put together! Look at Italy ... look at their major teams ... most of the players playing on them are Italian! Now take a look at the big "English" sides ... and go figure, eh.

There was a great need for a midfield architect - another Scholes or similar, Gerrard & Parker had to be too defensive to be able to control the game so for long periods we were without the ball. Whatever happened to the ruling that there could only be so many foreign players in a team? |

I mean I can get in the car & drive to any of the following, Holland, Belgium, France (not that I'd want to mind) Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland or Denmark, all within anything from 45 minutes to several hours (pretty much like the Krauties of old really but without the Armour). ;) Don't get me wrong England is my home & it's always nice to come back to visit, but I've settled here now (at the time of writing, 28 years in Country) but being an "Englander in the Fatherland" is quite good. One day I'll up sticks & head back to Blighty .............. maybe. |

This is a good game ... I'm actually glad it's going into extra time ... but that bloody ref! Anyone else lose count of the bs yellow cards? And too many wimps and pussies on the field. Time for another Bomber:alright:

Re: Euro 2012

Re: Euro 2012
I really enjoyed the England - Italy match -apart from the gloating i had to put up with from my son and husband when we lost! I thought England were unlucky not to have scored during normal time especially at the beginning ...I do think they need to brush up on their penalty kicking though.
Last nights match was one of the worst i've seen so far -was expecting much more from Spain. Italy - Germany tonight -should be a thriller. They're all excited over here about it. Don't think of Italy as my second team - personally i fancy Germany to win it with a few goals scored by either side. Maybe 3-2. Can't say that here though!!:D |
Re: Euro 2012
Well i just backed Italy to do the Krauts.:)

Re: Euro 2012
I actually enjoyed the match last night Italy were well worth the win and if they carry on on Sunday its not going to be a forgone conclusion, Italy's football was probably the best played in the tournament so far, the Germans were outclassed and its not very often you can say that, if I was a gambling man like cashy I'd be having a shilling on Italy on Sunday

Re: Euro 2012
So all over & done with & once again my predictions fall flat :o well done Spain & I'lll stick to my day job. ;)

Re: Euro 2012
Magnificent.......... 2 good sides, Italy couldn't live wi Spain n doubt if any side can, when they play like that, Well deserved champions.;)
|
Re: Euro 2012
Nobody could deny Spain the best side in the tournament by quite a distance. Best team there's ever been. Maybe.

Prandelli made some selection mistakes - Chiellini and Cassano weren't fit to be in the team -used his 3 substitutions stupidly because of this and they ended up only having 10 men. Didn't use Diamante and some others who were in great shape.... May find out more insider stuff later this week - Prandelli's brother-in-law has a horse here with us and comes riding most days! He was at the final -no doubt sick as a dog! |
Re: Euro 2012
No good looking fer excuses, Manager went wi what he considered his strongest available side, which i happen to agree wi, Spain outclassed n outplayed em,before the injuries made any impact, What Prandelli has achieved wi this Italian side deserves great credit, given recent history.;)

Re: Euro 2012
What a great match, Spain were really geared up for it, the first thing they did was cut Pirlo out of the game, stop their engine it its tracks then systematically tore um to bits, they've certainly got the right formula, that's 3 major tournaments in a row the first time this has ever happened. Can they make it 4 at the world cup in two years time, I for one wouldn't bet against it
|
Re: Euro 2012
Italian TV is saying the team were tired and didn't have enough time to recuperate from the last match. They did transfer a lot in a few days. Shame they didn't play as well as they did against Germany -would have been nice to see some goals from them too!
