banning Drums. How very untinpottedness.

Most, if not all, people are in agreeance that football generates interest and noise. The Ultras have a good reputation and are expected to make noise. A drum is part and parcel of that noise.

If we all took airhorns to the first game and honked them for 90 minutes will they be banned? So we go down a level and get kazzoo's will they be banned? How far do you go to appease the minority. I am also not the biggest fan of the big drum but hell I'll stand next to it if I have to because I accept it. A few people will take umberage and not go to the games and blame the drum. BO!!0CKS. They use the drum as an excuse to not go. How many of the now infamous Livingstone (or should that be just about LIVINGstone ) Road Whingers R Us society are actually complaining? I bet the number is less than ten.

Next seasons mission then is to find as many items of noise make that we can. Show the miserable "if I'd known this six years ago I'd never have bought the house' brigade that we will continue to hound their saturday afternoons in the name of twelfth manedness.

If they dont like 90 minutes of thump thump then they should try living next door to my anti-social gits of neighbours who play music ridiculously loud until ridiculous O'Clock every fri, sat and sunday night!

The fact is though that the club have done this ban to create a good relationship with the local residents... we dont want to reck that relationship and create a battle between fans and residents with the club in the middle cause when the club does eventually put in for planning permission from the council for the roof or anything else these residents could be the people who will object to it due to the bad relationship

And u think by banning the drum it will stop them objecting? Fact is, they have nothing else better to do. They will complain and always have about everything that Stanley ever does to try and develop.

fair enough but now it is one thing on the side of the club as they can now say look we banned the drum where as if we kept it they would just have another thing to moan about!

I`ve got mixed feelings about the drum, sometimes i think it adds to the atmosphere and others i think it drowns the songs out, i`m not however in favour of bans on things in general unless they cause harm and i think for 90 mins every 2 weeks is hardly harmfull, yes i know many people will be breathing a sigh of relief about the drums being banned, but i for one will miss it on the whole, so lets do as already suggested and just sing louder and prouder next season.

Aye time to turn up them vocal chords peeps by the looks of it. Im disappointed that something that can so easily generate atmosphere like a drum has been banned, and just to clear things up, I never once had my airhorn taken off me or stopped at the Crown - just the odd jobsworths at the odd away grounds in the Conference so everyone get an airhorn next season.. :)

On the subject of drums (and please forgive my ignorance), are these also banned at away matches ? Do most other League clubs have a similar policy in force ?

I personally like the drums and they do create a good atmosphere :) - and though I do not live close to a football ground, I honestly don't believe that once every couple of weeks for 90 mins is too much of a burden to bear.

Imagine the Brazilian matches without the drums - they just would not be the same !:eek:

You buy a house near a school you expect noise from kids attending it during school hours.
you buy a house near a church you expect noise from bell ringers on a Sunday morning.
You buy a house near a football ground you expect noise on match days.

and the price they pay for the house reflects any nusance that may be caused.

I agree with every point AGAINST banning the drum's in this topic
Anyone who has went Stanley last season would know what a differance to the atmosphere it makes, it gets behind the boys, and gets everyone into the party atmosphere mood
I understand for some people it can be annoying, but on saturday afternoon, i belive that a drum is part of the package of the place, and to ban it outright is a pretty poor decision
The fact that it was banned for night matches you can understand, what with little children in bed, time to relax after work etc, but on a saturday afternoon it is totally differant
Bottletop's comment was spot on, but i do belive them houses were there BEFORE Stanley's ground was (i think anyway)

The houses might have been but what about the people in them?
