Re: Elliot to leave

yeah you look after your own players first, but elliot is a better all round keeper than dunbavin, so he should have been in the team.

Re: Elliot to leave

If Rob is to leave, then this will leave a huge gap in our defensive line up. Most teams in the league have 3 goalkeepers on their books (obviously I know Martin Fearon is a fourth for us but is he not at Clitheroe still to get some experience?) and to leave us with 2 one of whom is on a short contract seems a bit ludicrous to me. However, is this story a bit of mischief making by the press as no news on the website or teletext backs this story up.

If it is fact - and not mischief making on the part of the local press - then I suspect that the only reason the Club has not placed this on the fishy site today is that it would be immeadiatly above the previous posting on the victims of the fire tragedy. To have done so could well have appeared insensitive to many..

Notwithstanding the fact that I’m a quite keen supporter of Ian Dunbavin I would hate to see Rob Elliott leave Accrington Stanley for any reason. This gentleman was part of that tremendous team that breathed life into the hopes and dreams of supporters of ASFC throughout the world and deserves clear recognition and support of the Club, Its Directors and Fans. If any of these mutterings are true then I for one will be gutted.

When finances are the thing that makes a fans favourite such as Rob leave then it's a real poor do.
Providing the reports are true then it'll be a big loss.
He's a great player & I hope he succeeds to the best of his abilities.
At least he went out on a great high!
Not bad for a cardigan wearing cockanee...

If this latest bombshell turns out to be true, then all I can say is Thank you Robbie, you have been a credit to this club and I wish you all the best in your footballing career....you will be missed :bow8: :bow8: :bow8:

Re: Elliot to leave

With all that is happening regarding players leaving and transfers into the club not happening. Combined with the poor service that fans are getting regarding the club shop and the non existent roof and bars, a lack of info for the fans.

This is just a question that needs to be asked "Has Eric Whalley done all he can and is it time he moved aside?"

oof. prepared to get karma battered from the regular losers.
It's a hard question to answer because of the huge amount of success he has brought to the club, nevertheless it's a valid question with the way the season has gone so far. This is a new level and an extremely difficult year for everyone at the club.

Bagpuss,

On a number of occasions you and I have not exactly seen eye to eye, however at the risk of committing 'social' suicide, I would have to admit I have been thinking the exact same thing...............

The playing staff of the club have done a great job, however with the mess behind the scenes with people leaving and things not being run as they should, it is understandable that people ask questions.

Re: Elliot to leave

silence from the club isn't good, but it is possible that Charlton are just recalling him for whatever reasons, Gary had to be allowed to leave, transfers into the club cannot always be our fault but maybe sometimes Coley tells us he is looking at a player just for appeasement, the roof will come but has been a Google Page Ranking joke for a long time now. But would anybody swap for the joke of a club that we supported years ago? Maybe it was run far more smoothly at the time but it was in debt and it was playing at a far lower level. Although there is a lot that I would want the club to be doing better, I thing the time for scathing comment and realistic judgement would be when we have in the leaegue for three or four years and have amassed some sort of stability regards playing staff and ground improvement. I think the club could do with trying to hurry along any sort of announcement regards the future development (or not) of the ground and the team as the rumours are getting stronger

I would imagine that in three years time, provided we still in the league then we will have a roof, we will have a bar, we will have improved catering facilities, but we still let loan players go back to their clubs and we will still 'allow' good players to move on if the money is right for us and them.

Re: Elliot to leave

May I be the one to put this silly rumour to bed. According to JC himself in an interview with Radio Lancs sports desk, Rob Elliot is not going anywhere. He is defo staying at Accrington Stanley for the forseeable future
