Roof pictures
I have started a new section on the fishy gallery "Clayton End Roof" and I will keep adding to that..
Right now it's just the delivery of steel framework. These won't be up until tomorrow. I will go back and take more pics and every day that something changes I will record.. Not just to keep us all happy knowing it's happening but for prosperity. So just a few for now and more on Thursday See here >> Accrington Stanley Pictures . |
Re: Roof pictures
At long last. The light at the end of the tunnel is now clearly visable.
:D |
Re: Roof pictures
lets hope they finish the job some for when the bad weather arrives when its cold.
|
Re: Roof pictures
Cheers Mr K...at last, it's happening! :D

Re: Roof pictures
Thanks Kipax. Its great to see.
Glad it appears they are following the style of the main stand roof. |
Re: Roof pictures
never thought i would find cranes and girders interesting but ........ there does appear to be an f in roof after all:)
|
Re: Roof pictures
Thanks Kipax. Interesting that the roof girder theme is being used to keep the ground asthetically(sp) similar.A sure sign that Eric is not going to relocate as this girder option is surely dearer than a more conventional ,simple construction...
|
Re: Roof pictures
Oooo I'm finally getting all excited.. I'm like a giddy kipper :D
|
Re: Roof pictures
More pictures added and you can now see the roof taking shape.. how high and how far out it goes... I will take more tommorow late on when most of the framework should be complete.. should be brill pics on friday :)
|
Re: Roof pictures
Looks promising, but it is going to go all the way to the seated stand end of the terracing...isn't it?
|
Re: Roof pictures
eh kipax your getting good at that photoshop now it looks very life like ;) :)

Mr Kipax could you please put a tape measure on the top step to the steel girder not a lot of room for the drummer to swing his stick:eek:

Re: Roof pictures
any plans for a roof on the away end or should we bring our brollies in February ?
|
Re: Roof pictures
Nice to see this coming together, what will we have to bitch about this year eh?
Cheers Mr K. more of the same please Sir. |
Re: Roof pictures
Definately bring your brollies, but don't worry if you forget them - the OSC can sell you one at a very reasonable price :)
|
Re: Roof pictures
Golly, the beams do look a foot or so too low. If thats the height,I bet some joker will swing themselves out to the end at the first home game.. :)
|
Re: Roof pictures
Quote:
No worries John, This is Stanley, not Burnley. The only dingles swinging on the end of our beams will be the ones we put there, maybe we'll hang the odd Monkey as well a couple of times this season......:D |
Re: Roof pictures
Am I right in saying that the fancy engineering that runs along the top is asthetically(sp) different to the main stand(s) ?
|
Re: Roof pictures
I could be wrong, but I bet I'd crack my head on those beams if i was on the back row. Isn't there a health and safety issue there? I wonder if someone has got their measurements wrong? ;)
|
Re: Roof pictures
Could be that height for work purposes,,and they will jack it up at the finish.
|
Re: Roof pictures
Wow, things are really moving! Eric told me on Tuesday that the steel was arriving yesterday and, as ever, he's as good as his word.
I promised my friend from Darlington, who stood with us in the rain last year and was very good and didn't cheer when Darlo scored, that there would be a roof for the first home game so now I won't have to eat my words! |
Re: Roof pictures
My son went up yesturday and its looking very impressive over half done in a couple of day so it will be done for first game so all you clayton enders will be nice and dry no need to run to the cow sheds now also we will be able to see the moaning away fans :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
|
Re: Roof pictures
Todays pics now up.. As you can see end to end framework...
there wont be much happening over the weekend so next update monday late... |
Re: Roof pictures
little bit concerned that the framework is higher on the left (if your looking from the coppice end) than the right. Is this to accomodate TM hehehe

:rofl38: you never know it might;):D Tho the roof supports look low or is it just how it looks on pics:confused: |
Re: Roof pictures
Look at these two pics I think judging by the Fraser Eagle sign and the tops of peoples heads it'll just be big enough....be a bit snug though....no jumping!!

Re: Roof pictures
Looks good but, as Ozzy says, why is on quarter at a slightly different height from the other three-quarters?
|
Re: Roof pictures
Cause its still attached to the crane and being put in place as he took the pic :-)

Re: Roof pictures
It s looking really good. great pics kipax.
as someone who was born in cornwall this is looking very much like a redroof to me:D |
Re: Roof pictures
Looking Good will it be ready for Man City Game? Is there room for the ultras flags?
|
Re: Roof pictures
downside is - wont be able to fly the flags as freely - its a low roof - so any flags will block the view of others more than other stands in the football league.

:Banane51:if you stand at the top of the steps on the crown car park looking at the advert board there is at least 2 ft of room above the board pluse the thickness or the girders:):)proberly 10 t 12 foot in hight in total:)

Re: Roof pictures
Please post some progress pics before you head to bonny Scotland KIPAX.. :)
|
Re: Roof pictures
I am only going scotland on the sat.. cant afford the fuel to go midweek at 60 quid a trip....
Roof... nothing much to report on monday... should be some changes today and will be up there to photograph later this aft :) |
Re: Roof pictures
Walked by this afternoon and didn't see much change from Crown side.
|
Re: Roof pictures
Just doing the pics now..
Good news is for all you lanky lot.. its 8.6 ft from floor to lowest part of girder I wouldn't hold yer breath for it being ready or usable for the city game... Roll on Leicster |
Re: Roof pictures
will that end be closed then for the fans?
|
Re: Roof pictures

no idea... steelwork should be completed by end of tommorow and then the cladding starts but that can take up to 2 weeks.. dunno if finished in time. dunno if can open it while not finished.... you know as much as me now :) |
Re: Roof pictures
many thanks. look forward to viewing more pics
|
Re: Roof pictures
Ten new pics added :)
|
Re: Roof pictures
I think its amazing what a difference the roof is beginning to make to that end. It looks so much bigger and now (from the right perspective) we have half of a football league ground.
I personally can't wait to listen to the away fans moaning about getting wet :D |
Re: Roof pictures
Wow...looks real good.Thanks KIPAX.
|
Re: Roof pictures
ain't it grand ! - thanks Mr Chairman - and thanks Tony for allowing us remote Stanleynuts to 'watch' the progress. If I can secure a ticket for the Leicester game I'll take some leave and come 'home' to see it in the steel, so to speak.
|
Re: Roof pictures
Wow! That looks the business! Thank you Mr K and thank you, Eric!
|
Re: Roof pictures
looking good - thanks again
|
Re: Roof pictures
It's looking better & better!
|
Re: Roof pictures
It looks fantastic, it’s big and its RED, the cladding going on will be a landmark occasion, and personally I think we need a get together to christen our new roof. There an “f in Roof” at Stanley.
I think we’ll need a work party and some paint donations for the main stand? |
Re: Roof pictures
Looking Brill :)
|
Re: Roof pictures
Nice to see Hereford fans having a peek at the new roof - we can see you sneeking in ExLandlord HUFC

Putting seats on the home terrace is an option, but there are many more viable options available I'm sure. This 'rumour' has come about because someone on here suggested it. It's never been something that has a basis in fact. |

great pics Mr K and glad to see it happening.

Re: Roof pictures
So basically, it's what I said isn't it? Rumour, conjecture, whatever you want to call it. There is no basis in fact, although it is an option open to the club.

Re: Roof pictures
Well rather than go by crackpot rumours started on messageboards by people who should know better... I asked Rob Heys the Club chief exec who told me he had no idea where the rumour started and there are no plans and never have been to put seats in the clayton end..
Although if you want to go with macca and bagpuss then feel free... just letting you know what the horses mouth said :) |

Slightly off topic, and a bit uncool. :o
How do you get to choose the words under your name, i.e. "it's not true....honest!!", or "I'm Vitriolic Me". I'm fed up with "Senior Member", sorry, but I've just had another birthday, and it kinda rubs it in when I log on. :bleedht: Help a  old man, please. Roof looks good BTW, was up there the other night. |

"How did it happen?" the doctor asked the middle-aged builder as he set the man's broken leg. "Well, doc, 25 years ago ..." "Never mind the past. Tell me how you broke your leg this morning." "Like I was saying...25 years ago, when I first started working on the building, that night, right after I'd gone to bed, the boss's beautiful daughter came into my room. She asked me if there was anything I wanted. I said, "No, everything is fine." "Are you sure?" she asked. "I'm sure," I said. "Isn't there anything I can do for you?" she wanted to know. "I reckon not," I replied. "Excuse me," said the doctor, "What does this story have to do with your leg?" "Well, this morning," the builder explained, "when it dawned on me what she meant, I fell off the Clayton End roof!" ;-) |

It was a fact that there wasn't a roof. It was an option to build a roof. The option is being taken. It is now a fact (unless Kipax is taking his pictures somewhere else :)) that a roof is being built. It will be an option to put seats under that roof. It is not necessarily a fact that anyone is considering that option. I think I'll go to sleep now. |
