Roof pictures

I have started a new section on the fishy gallery "Clayton End Roof" and I will keep adding to that..

Right now it's just the delivery of steel framework. These won't be up until tomorrow. I will go back and take more pics and every day that something changes I will record.. Not just to keep us all happy knowing it's happening but for prosperity. So just a few for now and more on Thursday

See here >> Accrington Stanley Pictures

Thanks Kipax. Its great to see.

Re: Roof pictures

Thanks Kipax. Interesting that the roof girder theme is being used to keep the ground asthetically(sp) similar.A sure sign that Eric is not going to relocate as this girder option is surely dearer than a more conventional ,simple construction...

No worries John, This is Stanley, not Burnley. The only dingles swinging on the end of our beams will be the ones we put there, maybe we'll hang the odd Monkey as well a couple of times this season......:D

Am I right in saying that the fancy engineering that runs along the top is asthetically(sp) different to the main stand(s) ?

Tin Monkey 19-07-2007 18:52

Re: Roof pictures

I could be wrong, but I bet I'd crack my head on those beams if i was on the back row. Isn't there a health and safety issue there? I wonder if someone has got their measurements wrong? ;)

Kiwi John 19-07-2007 18:55

Wow, things are really moving! Eric told me on Tuesday that the steel was arriving yesterday and, as ever, he's as good as his word.

I promised my friend from Darlington, who stood with us in the rain last year and was very good and didn't cheer when Darlo scored, that there would be a roof for the first home game so now I won't have to eat my words!

downside is - wont be able to fly the flags as freely - its a low roof - so any flags will block the view of others more than other stands in the football league.

With That in mind might be worth the club considering dropping the price to £10 adults & £5 for concessions for the game let's pack the place out, sing our hearts out, create an intimidating atmosphere and become the so called 12th man!!:)

I very much doubt that we'd be playing Championship football, never mind Premiership football, at the current location.

Putting seats on the home terrace is an option, but there are many more viable options available I'm sure. This 'rumour' has come about because someone on here suggested it. It's never been something that has a basis in fact.

This where the rumour started and I believe it will be considered as an option.

The club are believed to be considering putting the 900 required seats onto the Clayton End because it would only involve pouring new concrete moulds over the existing steps and then putting the seats in. Developing the Whinney Hill would involve demolition and total rebuild.

It is by no means set in stone but I think that by posting it we can have an early chance to vent our thoughts on this.

"How did it happen?" the doctor asked the middle-aged builder as he set the man's broken leg.

"Well, doc, 25 years ago ..."

"Never mind the past. Tell me how you broke your leg this morning."

"Like I was saying...25 years ago, when I first started working on the building, that night, right after I'd gone to bed, the boss's beautiful daughter came into my room. She asked me if there was anything I wanted. I said, "No, everything is fine."

"Are you sure?" she asked.

"I'm sure," I said.

"Isn't there anything I can do for you?" she wanted to know.

"I reckon not," I replied.

"Excuse me," said the doctor, "What does this story have to do with your leg?"

"Well, this morning," the builder explained, "when it dawned on me what she meant, I fell off the Clayton End roof!"

No. You are the senseless silly one. An option is an alternative course of action, to be considered and then either executed or dismissed. It is irrelevant whether the club has considered this (seating ) or not, or if it is indeed no more than an unfounded rumour - an option is a fact. I do not wish to get involved in a discussion on semantics, pragmatics or syntax but I would suggest that you try to be a little more careful in your use of language.

Oh dear.... in your book of English grammar and meaning, does the word contradiction exist? Pompous arse.

In other words, I am right and you are wrong. Go on, admit it.

No it isn't, it's an option, a possibility. It may be a viable option, it may be a fact that the option exists, but in itself an option is not a fact. If that option is taken it could become a fact, but by then it has ceased to be an option. :)

As another pedant, I must agree - an option is not a fact.

It was a fact that there wasn't a roof.

It was an option to build a roof.

The option is being taken.

It is now a fact (unless Kipax is taking his pictures somewhere else :)) that a roof is being built.

It will be an option to put seats under that roof.

It is not necessarily a fact that anyone is considering that option.

I think I'll go to sleep now.
