Re: vs Chesterfield
We were God awful today.
I don't think I will ever work out how we won that surreal game. Coley was somehow let off for the disastrous, positively ghastly decisions in team selection, tactics, subs, set plays, etc etc etc This is by no means the end of our troubles, but these three points will do very, very nicely. The goals were well taken, so well done to Andy and Roscoe. ...and also to Ian Dunbavin, who was the MotM for me today. |
Re: vs Chesterfield
Stunning second half performance from the Stanley boys. They poured forward in waves, never giving the opposition an inch in midfield and defence. They just couldn't handle Roscoe's pace, but everybody contributed to a storming display. I thought we had blown it when Mully missed his great chance near the end, but the Clayton end sucked the ball into the net off Roscoe's head. Dunbavin saved the day with a fantastic second half save at a crucial stage and the defence stood firm throughout against some tricky customers. I'm delighted for Coley tonight and just hope he's bottled whatever he gave the lads at half time.

Re: vs Chesterfield
Accrington Stanley---Powered by the crowd
Second half atmosphere was like a cup tie, the Clayton End cheering every time a Stanley player touched the ball. When the goalie tried to clock Jay Harris then the crowd erupted. From then on a Stanley win with adreneline flooding from the supporters to the team. Most enjoyable 45 minutes for a very long while! |
Re: vs Chesterfield
Weigh up their keeper and send him to Vegas Mayweather has an opponent.
Terrible display, good thing they were worse. Yes we had all the possession but it really was a case of them being bad rather than us being good I'm afraid :( <script type="text/javascript">function __RP_Callback_Helper(str, strCallbackEvent, splitSize, func){var event = null;if (strCallbackEvent){event = document.createEvent('Events');event.initEvent(str CallbackEvent, true, true);**if (str && str.length > 0){var splitList = str.split('|');var strCompare = str;if (splitList.length == splitSize)strCompare = splitList[splitSize-1];var pluginList = document.plugins;for (var count = 0; count < pluginList.length; count++){var sSrc = '';if (pluginList[count] && pluginList[count].src)sSrc = pluginList[count].src;if (strCompare.length >= sSrc.length){if (strCompare.indexOf(sSrc) != -1){func(str, count, pluginList, splitList);break;********if (strCallbackEvent)document.body.dispatchEvent(even t);**function __RP_Coord_Callback(str){var func = function(str, index, pluginList, splitList){pluginList[index].__RP_Coord_Callback = str;pluginList[index].__RP_Coord_Callback_Left = splitList[0];pluginList[index].__RP_Coord_Callback_Top = splitList[1];pluginList[index].__RP_Coord_Callback_Right = splitList[2];pluginList[index].__RP_Coord_Callback_Bottom = splitList[3];**;__RP_Callback_Helper(str, 'rp-JavaScript-coord-callback', 5, func);**function __RP_Url_Callback(str){var func = function(str, index, pluginList, splitList){pluginList[index].__RP_Url_Callback = str;pluginList[index].__RP_Url_Callback_Vid = splitList[0];pluginList[index].__RP_Url_Callback_Parent = splitList[1];**;__RP_Callback_Helper(str, 'rp-JavaScript-url-callback', 3, func);**function __RP_TotalBytes_Callback(str){var func = function(str, index, pluginList, splitList){pluginList[index].__RP_TotalBytes_Callback = str;pluginList[index].__RP_TotalBytes_Callback_Bytes = splitList[0];**;__RP_Callback_Helper(str, null, 2, func);**function __RP_Connection_Callback(str){var func = function(str, index, pluginList, splitList){pluginList[index].__RP_Connection_Callback = str;pluginList[index].__RP_Connection_Callback_Url = splitList[0];**;__RP_Callback_Helper(str, null, 2, func);**</script> |
Re: vs Chesterfield
How a team plays is always 'subjective', But 3 points is 3 points.
YIPPEEEEEEEEEEE |
Re: vs Chesterfield
Always appreciate the 3 points, but it wasn't pretty today.
When I saw the size of the Chesterfield team I assumed that the tactics would be to play the ball on the floor and use the pace of Roscoe. We didn't start to do that until the last third of the game and it paid off. To be fair to Whalley, who has taken a lot of stick this season, his pace and direct play instantly caused problems for those big monsters. As soon as he started running at them, you could tell they were worried. Nice to see a little variation at corners too. The driven ball from Craney was perfect for Roscoe to head home. There was more effort from the team today, even though confidence was obviously rock bottom. I still don't see Branch as a team player (see his outburst at Dunbavin and his verbal assault on the fans), but the 3 points were a nice bonus. |
Re: vs Chesterfield
...I wonder how OGGY got on with the Liner..??...
|
Re: vs Chesterfield
Did Branch have ago at the fans?? He must read this forum then.

Re: vs Chesterfield

Three points are great; but if we play like that against a half decent side (because Chesterfield were, almost unbelievably, worse at set pieces than us) then God knows what'll happen. Oh wait - loot at the MK Dons game :rolleyes::rolleyes:!!!! Coleman - please tell us what is going on!!!!! Sean Whalley is without a doubt the worst winger I have ever seen. To take off our only good winger to bring on this numpty was beyond stupidity. To persist with John 'scared of a football' Miles, was also beyond stupidity. To play Robbie 'forgotten how to defend completely' Williams, was also beyond stupidity. To play Graham 'uh? what? a winger? where?' Branch, was also beyond stupidity. To put up with and condone Leam Richardson, Mark Roberts, Ian Craney and Sean Whalley crowding the ref constantly, is not just stupid, but a disgrace to see. All this must get sorted before we even start to think our problems are sorted. We got lucky with a crap ref and crap opponents today - that won't happen often. |

Re: vs Chesterfield
The first half wasn`t good, i think if you include the overhead kick we had 2 attempts on goal, Chesterfield though didn`t deserve a half time lead but the young lad Ward took it well and the finish was top class, what was Bav doing though ?.
Second half was much better, they started to play a lot better about 15 mins in, yeah it still wasn`t brilliant but Chesterfield didn`t seem to wanna know, maybe it was the Lancashire cold that put them off, as they obviously do play better than that looking at where they are in the league, we were still devoid of any idea on defending but lucky for us that Chesterfield never got going, but 3 pts is 3pts and there were signs of improvement so i think that the doom and gloom mist might be starting to lift a little, maybe not a lot but we are now 11pts above the relegation zone as opposed to 8pts before todays game. |

Re: vs Chesterfield
Yeah not brilliant odds.
To say it was 18-1 for Chesterfield to win 3-1 which i would have thought would have been nearer the correct result, obviously somebody somewhere knew something we didn`t. |
Re: vs Chesterfield
Frist Half Rubbish!:(
Second Half imense, whatever was in the tea at half time must be given before the game:) We really did get up and get at them and did not allow Chesterfield to play in the Second Half don't forget this is a team who out of nine away games before today had won six, drawn two & lost only once in that perspective today was an Excellent victory and the scenes at the end of the game on the pitch were reminiscent of staying up last season. I think for the first time in a while the team played as exactly that! Challenges went in and were won, we were first to the ball, good use of the wings and not just the long hoof & hope we have been used to of late. The crowd played a massive part the Second Half and the team responded!:) Excellent Day at the Office:cool: |
