Re: Bee's
As I've posted on earlier threads, I have a lot of affection for Stanley (having seen you lot around two dozen times blah blah blah) so it's with regret that this has all happened.
I think the gripe is, that lots of Bees fans were travelling and up until 2pm, your nice lady in the office said that there 'was no doubt that the game would be on' - I know I phoned her. I stayed overnight, so my personal gripe isn't the 'should they or should they not have' called the game off at 10am, although this would have saved many trips by car. More so are the wrong facts about the matter - 1) I know Andy Scott the manager personally and he was desperate to have the game played. We are on a four match run of wins, have no game next Saturday because of the FA Cup, and was hoping to keep the momentum going.. 2) The pitch on arrival (and I like to think I am a fair man) was far from unplayable. The middle from the centre spot to the away end goal (nice covered terrace now btw!) was thick mud, I saw the keepers coach trying to roll the ball and it wouldn't, but in any case the touchline by the side of the main stand was non existant, just a section of mud, no grass to be seen, no lines.. 3) You cannot blame the referee - the blame I believe (or shall I say niaviety) is that Acrington didn't either call the game off on Friday or at least inform people that there would have to be an inspection in the morning.. As a Stanley fan I know who text me afterwards said 'the problem is that back in the Northern Premier days, games like this would have been played.. we forget that we are in the Football League now...' |
Re: Bee's
Well the club rebuts the accusation made by Brentford & have made a statement on our site answers it all Accrington Stanley :D

You believe what you want mate, thats about £15,000 you've lost in revenue because there won't be that number who will try again...however, I'm sure it will be more than the 37 you took to Peterboro'... |
Re: Bee's
Oh dear... looks like the Football League have been ringing round Brentford fans saying that 'they weren't aware of any 10am inspection...' Poor old Accy...they really need to get their story straight..

Re: Bee's
if teh nice lady in the office at the Football League wasn't aware of any inspection then she needs sacking. Tinpot or what!
Why would we make an official statement that there had been a phone call, and a subsequent visit by FA appointed ref if we hadn't done that and knowing full well that there is to be an 'investigation' of sorts to follow. I reckon we should make a subsequent statement to the effect that Brentford's forum should be careful what it allows to be published as our legal team are watching ....... |
