According to the club, the FA appointed the referee who turned up to make the 10am pitch inspection, so I don't reckon they've got a leg to stand on!

To be more accurate, Brentford has made representations to the Football League about the way it was handled. BFC fully agrees that it was right to postpone. What is at issue is the way ASFC repeatedly told BFC and its supporters during the week that the game was not at risk, the apparent pitch inspection at 10am and generally the way that ASFC was happy to play fast and loose with Brentford fans Saturdays and petrol bills.

It would seem that ASFC couldn't bring themselves to face the reality that the opportunity of getting 900+ away supporters into the stadium had been torpedoed by the weather days ago.

I wonder if your club is telling the whole truth here?

Haha, never heard that one before. You should be asking why your club is run like a non-league outfit.

 FUNNY THING IS WHAT I'VE BEEN TOLD ON THE DAY IS THAT THE MATCH DAY REF HAD AND SAY AGAIN HAD GIVEN THE GAME THE GO A HEAD AFTER HIS PITCH INSPECTION AND IT WAS YOU MANAGER WHO SAID HE DID'NT WANT THE GAME TO BE PLAYED BECAUSE HIS SIDE PLAYED ON THE FLOOR AND THAT THE PITCH WAS UNSUITABLE.SO I THINK QUESTIONS SHOULD BE ASKED AT YOUR END FIRST:)

OK, I'm sorry I'm making light of it. I've been on the receiving end of postponed games more than once and it's not much fun. But as far as I can make out, Stanley did everything right and should not be blamed. These things happen in football (and other sports) and always will. Just accept it and look forward to the next game, wherever it is.

The match referee decides if the pitch is fit or unfit. He can't postpone it becuase one manager doesn't want to play. If that's the case then they would be charged with not fulfilling a fixture.I think that rumour is well off the mark I'm afraid.

These things happen when the weather suddenly changes for the worse and conditions deteriorate unexpectedly. The truth is that ASFC should have realised on Friday that the game couldn't proceed and saved Brentford fans the time and considerable expense of travelling. Instead they were adamant that there was no risk of the game being postponed. And again on Saturday morning they could have called the game off early. Stanley did not play this by the book and that is why people are annoyed.
