The problems in this club lie at the very top.
Anybody suggesting otherwise (ie; Coleman's suggested inabilities) is blind.

Positives from today -
1) Dunbavin showed good shot stopping.
2) ....erm.

Negatives -
1) Dunbavin's good shot stopping is useless when we are already losing.
2) Total lack of confidence and morale in team.
3) NOBODY GIVES ONE THAT WE ARE PLAYING LEAGUE FOOTBALL. NOT EVEN THE PLAYERS

To me, ASFC need's to find it's level. It saddens me profusely but I believe we are destined to be be non-league underdogs.
The bar was packed in non-league.
Supporters were happier in non-league.
The crowds were better in non-league, ie more in numbers and more in influence, noise and life!
The board could manage our finances without influencing who should be playing.
The manager could work without hassle from every which way.

Gratitude or what.
Woking was for nothing.

Positives from today...

I have decided to resurrect my own playing career and from next week will be playing Accy Combination again!

It's better than watching that and I will be much fitter in the mean time...

However, I can still get up for second half!

I have never felt so empty at the end of any Stanley game and for the first time couldn't bring my self to applaud anyone off at the end. The biggest thing missing is leadership by a strongman on the pitch. The next biggest thing missing is a confident goalkeeper who in turn gives his defenders confidence - get Kenny back in as as soon as possible please Coley. I know Bav did well for the penalty but it wasn't really a killer strike and apart from that his kicking was again atrocious, barely finding the halfway line and as often as not. Why are our two best centre halves out of favour, warming up by themselves, looking thouroughly p***ed off and not even on the bench? Why is Craney playing up front? He will never be a striker. Why can none of our players fashion a decent, hard and well aimed shot at goal when given half a chance? It's a good job you could say the same about Wycombe, otherwise it would have been another cricket score against. Where was Doughty and why is Branch still in the team? Why am I bothering to put up these questions?

As i was down on a break for a few days and the game was at home I went (dragging Jen along) and at the end wished I hadnt. Ok dodgy ref'ing non penelty penelty though well saved after watching the game I believe unlike some that the blame lies at Coleys door. I have some thoughts on whats wrong.

There have been comments made about our defence that ships goals like a storm drain ships excess water. What defence? We dont seem to have one! It seems to go awol faster than French and Italian soldiers (not something to be proud of). I believe they have little or no faith in their own ability and skill and as such seem to be disengaded from the game. the first goal was a good example in my opinion as the space left to Wycombe could have held a brass band!!!! A goalie is only as good as the guys in front of him and should be able to rely on them to help him at the critical moment.

When they are caught half way up the pitch by the opposition starting a breakout its as though they are having 40 winks and dont wake up until the opposition has a minimum 5 yard start on em. They dont backtrack, mark, close down, intercept, harass even narrow the angle as they should (if they catch em that is). When this happens its one man trying to keep the ball out of the onion bag and thus losing a goal.

The midfield players have to be able to defend as well as attack yet to me it looks like a red light for stop goes up once the defence gets going!!! This is really bad as the defence like the goalie needs to be confident that they can rely on the midfield for back up and "confining" of possible threats. Just because they are midfield players dosnt meen that the only time they defend is at corners and direct free kicks!!

Another issue I saw with the midfield again in my opinon is the lack of support they give the guys up front. Any attacker needs to know he has support and therefore other options to put the ball in the bag but missing/absent/awol players means there is no plan B. There was too many times that on the occasions we attacked plan be was not even available and the direct approach failed.

Attacking wise the only plan was direct due to lack of suport that should have been there and if it was it was so slow that the relief was intercepted before they could help. No attacker should be allowed to go it alone without suport because thats when we are caught on the break and everyone is having 40 winks. Now the chance to score goalie down opposition defence in disarry a golden chanceto score was lost b because of what was, if applied to the medical profession would be professional incompitance. Itwas like a scene from a Carry On film.

These guys are professional players and as such should be able to read a game, know what their fellow players might do, know what the opposition might do in a given situation. The impression I get is that they didnt have a clue. I wont single players out as it is a team game and therefore the teams responsibility for the resulting debacle. We put eleven players on the grass today not a team. Without communication and understanding we are in a mess.

The club wants to atract people in yet the way that they played will put people off. The loss of punters is money lost to the club which as there is no genie in a lamp, millionare with dosh to burn or a fairy godmother is badly needed. When fans of the older generation start leaving because the game was so bad and not the weather then there are problems. The same was true of fans who are every and all matchers. For 15 plus years I have, when I could, done a 430+ mile round trip to watch my team. Todays game makes me want to reconsider that and I can understand why even locals are having second thoughts.

Heads are down, confidence low, self belief lacking even the possibility of players being angry with each other but what is missing? Well maybe a bit of the bulldog spirit that was shown in the film Zulu is what is needed. Even a bit of the "never say die" attitude might help. Any team that can keep its spirits up even when they lose can win the next match because even in defeat positves can be taken from it to help in the next match.

I dont want my original belief that they entered the league and became one of the "92" to start ringing true.

After todays debacle I firmly believe that each and every Stanley fan would be entitled to sue under the Mis-sale of Goods Act..........Not fit for purpose :mad::mad:

Yes, much, much worse. No plan, no direction, too many square pegs in round holes and no nouse whatsoever.
Despite some underwhelming performances, it was too bad to just blame the players. :(

I was left as bemused at the end, as Roberts and Webb looked before the match.

Geoff Boycott was once asked about cricket being a team game, "No, it's not! It's eleven individuals", he retorted. Looked like it, today.

OK, Chester (next Sat.) have lost their last 4 home games, without scoring, only 2 points from last 9 games. Neither side will have any confidence, so a week's hard work could see us getting 3 points.

I've talked myself into going, I suppose; not bad, after nearly walking out before the final whistle for the first time in my life, less than 12 hours ago.

(Just got this uneasy feeling that something major will happen in the meantime, hope not.)
