Craney Off??

Don't want to be the bearer of bad news but Craney is having a medical at a league one club today.

Stanleymad 18-08-2008 11:45

On what grounds of the information have u got that from jiffy:rolleyes:

Re: Craney Off??

hes already played at league one level so why didnt they bid for him when swansea were letting him go! i dont want him to go i think he is a good player and we do well with him in the team as from the past two games he is playing very good! so dont go craney! and he is on a 3 year deal so they will have to pay for that plus they will have to offer more than what morecombe did or he aint going no-were

So huddersfield told ya then jiffy:D, i tend not to beleive the hype till some kind of confirmation has been made otherwise its just rumour & speculation.

Maverick 18-08-2008 12:23

Re: Craney Off??

U don't seem to have much confidence in Jiffy's information there. Sometimes it's not always hype. I'm sure Jiffy wouldn't have posted this unless it was accurate info. Sos and Gary are there nowadays so that probably played a part in this deal being done.

Stanleymad 18-08-2008 12:26

Nope maverick, many have given rumour & speculation, tho jiffy doesn't seem to provide me with otherwise with a link or something, until then its only speculation:rolleyes:

bet u will Shakes! Can't see us getting another midfielder who scores over 10 goals a season to come to a club where the crowds are dwindling, has no money and has to sell their best players just to survive in the league. This deal will probably stop the club for flirting with administration. I 4 1 am sorry to see him leave and I suspect coley will not be given the money from the deal by Eric to get somebody half as good as him in.

Andy Procter, who has half of the ability that Craney possesses, played far better than Craney last season and got three more goals than Craney did. Blame it on Craney not being played in the correct position all you want but the fact of the matter is Ian Craney didn't but the sufficient amount of effort in and his attitude on the pitch stank to high heaven. We're better off without him. If Craney put the effort in he'd be a brilliant player - but he's a lazy prima donna.

Precisely. If Craney put the effort in to match his ability then he would've surpassed Procter both in goals and standard of performances, but the simple fact is that he didn't. Procter played far better than Craney last season.

shakes didn't Craney only sign back in October on loan and then permanently in the January window half way through last season? So Proccys 3 more goals aint really that impressive is it now? Anyways if he was that good surely clubs would be bidding for Proccy wouldn't they? I just hope the money we get (some of it anyways) is given to Coley to get 1 maybe 2 midfielders in, preferably 1 that can replace Craney's goal tally.

Haggis316 18-08-2008 16:43

Huddersfield Examiner suggest "Robbo" joined "for a down-payment with add-on incentives to total £250,000". Stan indicates "substantial payment" of similar order to "Robbo".

Sounds like good business by Eric to me.

the link Haggis gave us has Stan Ternent saying that they have paid similar to what they paid for Gary Roberts. That was said to be around £180k

I'm not saying Procter is better than Craney, he isn't. I'm saying that a player of Procter's standard shouldn't have statistics that come close to Craney's. Yet because of Craney's total lack of commitment and love for being a lazy prima donna, his ability was left at home.

And then suddenly he's signed by Huddersfield. Maybe he only put in the effort when he knew he was being scouted? He was poor in the second half of last season, but looked good in the last two games. Coincidence??

I really hope that we can get someone in to replace him, especially going forward. If players like this were easy to come by, then Huddersfield wouldn't have paid out for Craney. Coleman has a job on his hands, but has the rest of the month to get someone in, as long as some of that cash is made available to him (and I know what it says on the website).

Whenever there is a "feelgood feeling" about our performances as at Wolves I have a distinct feeling that one or two star performers will be sought after. I had the same feeling in 2006 after Torquay away.

Re: Craney Off??

do you people watch the same game?

I would rather have 1 ian craney over 10 andy proctors.

For all his effort, proctor looks destined to be a league 2 player. Ian Craney oozes class at this level and when he is given the freedom he was to good for league 2.

Last year he suffered from being paul mullins strike partner.

Its a massive loss, but it makes sense for the club.

Hopefully we can get a kid or 2 with potential to come in.
We will certainly need a ball player with a good engine.

Thank god there is at least one other person with any bloody sense Craney is a quality player but has done **** all for us since he came back - especially since he signed. He thinks he's bigger than the club and expected the whole team to revolve around him. The two big performances just before a transfer SHOWS how much he doesn't care about stanley - he's been able to play all along just couldn't be arsed. If it is true we've sold him for a profit - never even mind close to 200k we are laughing all the way. Good riddance.

Re: Craney Off??

All of a sudden I think Ian Craney is fantastic!!! Fantastic for agreeing terms with Huddersfield and buggering off!!! This is the best bit of news I could have had today!!!!

Not only have we got some money out of the deal to go towards the new stand or whatever the club spend it on, we've just freed up an enormous amount of wages by moving our biggest earner on. This means we can use those freed up wages to bring in at least 2 players on long term loans, or god forbid maybe even sign someone on a free!!!

Bye bye Useless, hope you have a good time at the Galpharm, I for one will not miss you.

Reading between the lines I get the impression that was your speech of resignation as chairman of the Ian Craney fan club :p

That confirms things for me. Have you seen that freekick since the game? He could have taken that same kick 100 times and not put it right in the top corner again.

Very, very good business. I'm surprised Stan Ternent has a hand left to shake with after Eric snatched it off. Ian was great for the club but hasn't been the same player since getting injured at Bradford. He hasn't looked properly fit to me since then and I'll be very surprised if he makes it at Huddersfield, but hope I'm wrong. It's a big opportunity now for Ryan to make the attacking midfielder position his own and I think he will come good.
