Afternoon folks....nice start.
|
Re: Luton Town Game Thread
Stanley are playing well and are pressing the Luton goal. Terry Gornell is proving a handful up front and Paul Mullin is causing problems, getting his head to most balls. from live text Observer
|
Re: Luton Town Game Thread
Luton made a sub andrews on for O'connor
|
Re: Luton Town Game Thread
Defence are doing well together. They haven;t been greatly tested yet - a lot of the game has been played out in midfield - but Murdock and Charnock seem to work well together. Phil Edwards is on the right. live text Observer

|
Re: Luton Town Game Thread
even more after last saturday
|
Re: Luton Town Game Thread
3:41 They had a good spell of pressure straight after the goal with Luton's keeper touching a John Miles cross over the bar. But Luton have just had a good chance at the other end. The home side did have the ball in the net but Stanley were saved by the offside flag.
|
Re: Luton Town Game Thread
Will eat more choccys & ****** off to a corner now, typical as this match is very personal!:(:(
|
Re: Luton Town Game Thread
Oh bollocks
|
Re: Luton Town Game Thread
3:44 Stanley are causing problems with both Miles and Ryan playing good balls into the box but the Luton defence, apart from the goal, have coped with them. Hatters are dangerous on the break with their pace. It is delicately poised but Stanley are playing well - they are passing the ball around and battling for every ball.
|
Re: Luton Town Game Thread
i like jimmy ryan he is a really good player he is a really good find by coleman, miles seems to be having a good few games this season.
|
Re: Luton Town Game Thread
half time 1-1
|
Re: Luton Town Game Thread
3:49 HT: Luton 1 Stanley 1
The equaliser was a blow for Stanley as they did seem to be coping well with whatever Luton threw at them. John Coleman will be angry at the marking with Jake Howells ball in finding midfielder Hall who finished well. Stanley have looked threatening up front. Paul Mullin is having a good game while Jimmy Ryan is a danger on the wing. John Miles has been also drifting to the right and has been running at the defence and causing problems. |
Re: Luton Town Game Thread
its a good site the observer website, when thier is no radio coverage
|
Re: Luton Town Game Thread

4:15 2-1 to accy. A ball across the face of the goal from the left wing came to Gornell, unmarked, at the far post and he whalloped it into the back of the net. Two in two games for the striker

Re: Luton Town Game Thread
4:54 Full time: Luton 1 Accrington Stanley 2
Goals from Paul Mullin and Terry Gornell sealed the first win in eight matches for Stanley. The new look defence, with Kieran Charnock making his debut, held firm against a lively Luton attack. Asa Hall did equalise for the bottom of the table Hatters and Wayne Andrews missed an open goal, but Stanley deserved the win for their battling show. |

Re: Luton Town Game Thread
Thats it! 2 - 1 Stanley - well done lads. After how they must've felt last week that's taken a lot of guts to go to Luton & get all 3 points, bless their cotton socks. (Just realised I didn't make a prediction this week, maybe I should leave it every week - either that or banish Dan to Turf Moor in future & leave our commentating to Ben :) )
|
Re: Luton Town Game Thread
Superb result. Well done lads. Unlike last week I can now go and get my tea and stomach it proudly! :D
Cheers for the prediction league points too :D |

Re: Luton Town Game Thread
From the Observer site:
"John Coleman admitted he was a relieved man after the win but was full of praise for his entire team. He singled out Terry Gornell who had a strong game in a Stanley shirt and scored the winner. He also had words of praise for new boy Kieran Charnock. He admitted the defeats had been hard to take and said he could now start enjjoying football again. He said, after what happened at Bradford, he did fancy that his side could win at Luton and he was impressed with the heart and spirit his side showed. He said he was heading every ball off the line in the final 10 minutes. He is now looking forward to Tuesday and hopes this will be the boost his side needed to go on and move up the table." |
Re: Luton Town Game Thread
some good news - 5:26 Terry Gornell was also relieved to get a goal and be on the winning side. He admitted last week's defeat - where he scored his first league goal - was hard to take but to get the winner was special. He has just signed a one month extension and says his partnershipwith Paul Mullin is now paying dividends
|

but maybe a few 'I told you so's' might be in order don't you think ?. Our Manager and Jimmy Bell got it right today and I hope that those doubters and cynics who doubted their abilities and conviction in their threads of last week will acknowledge this !. ( However grudgingly!). So on Tuesday night...... ' ON STANLEY !....ON !!. |
