So, there are only going to be six steps of standing terracing?

Your presuming the seats start at the existing barriers :)

I think I've missed something here?? Will there not be any standing in the Cowsheds from next season??? Cannot make it out from the photo's.....

So does this mean that the first line of barriers as shown here april_1st_09_1.jpg :: Accy Stanleys New Seats
are being taken out? What would be the point of that?

,,,and Valairian, yes, it's all seating in the Whinney Hill.

I do not see why we have to have a walkway, why can't when the seats are in and people are using them, if they want to go get refreshments or whatever why can't they just walk to the steps and down to the front and walk round like you would do at Rochdale! And people who are standing just do the same walk to the steps and down to the front!

The whole thing has to ahve a safety certificate... its not really the clubs decision.. In the cow shed the seats go from right at the front and its a walkway at the back of them as well..

Thanks for that Wynonie  I feel aggrieved at having to move in The Clayton End  but at least I can still stand! I feel really sorry for the "Cowshedders" because now they have to sit or move to The Clayton End.....:( These sodding seats .....And yes I know we must have them.

I'm not going with that one, It's more to do with not letting paying standing punters think they can sit down on the cheap (there might be one or two). If the walkways where left as they are now there would be no problem with the H&S certificate but because the club are putting a barrier between the seats and standing they have to make the new walkway and further annoy its loyal supporters.:(

There has to be a walkway from left to right... currently its at the bottom nr the wall.. When the seats go in that will be a different section to standing... So there has to be a walkway for the standing area...

There isnt really anywhere else it could be.. If you think between standing and seats... that would mean removing a step (or two) to make a walkway wide enough and will the best will in the world adding concrete is a massive difference to trying to remove a step ..

I dont see as theres any option for the walkway and its placement..

I do see that in three years of planning there could ahve been other options as to where to put the seats in the first place that would be in line with Rob Heys annoucement that theres no chance of seats going into the Clayton end.. but thats another story :)

Personally I think the best place would be between the seats and standing, no need to "remove" a step, just fill the lower one in to the level of the next one, just like they have done with the new walkway

Still don't understand where the seated area is going to start. Is it after the first lot of barriers?....after the second lot of barriers?...or are they completely repositioning the barriers and it's somewhere inbetween?

I bet part of the Clayton End will not be used on Saturday, anyone agree?

Was thinking the same myself, the concrete might have been down a few days and hard enough to stand on but the edge will crumble away if not set properly,
Can we not test the new seats in the cowshed

:) The first lot of barriers are being removed and reposistioned at each end of the whinney hill sand which will increese the standing capasitie. the concret mold's will then be put in up to the second barrier to which if im right 3 rows of seats will be put in 600 of em:)

:) Not sure about that one wynonie proberly not on the clayton end, what i ment was with putting the crash barriers at each end of the whinney hill stand you can increase the standing in thoses areas alone.i think the capacity of the ground will drop from 5,055 to just over 5,000.sorry if i got your hopes up:)

Oh right, I thought by the "first lot of barriers" you meant the ones shown here. ie the ones with the planks against them.

Cheers for the info, Mab. So, the home standing fans will be confined to six steps at the top of the Clayton End, plus a little bit of terracing at the Whinney Hill/Clayton End corner. Doesn't sound too good to me, but I suppose we'll just have to put up with it.

The hole at the back of the Clayton End was taken down to allow concrete to be poured through it.

Even though I hate the thought of them :( This has to be looked upon as good news for the club :) Football League status for at least another Season :p:)

Ground passes final Football League requirement
http://www.accringtonstanley.co.uk/gfx/news/seats.jpg
Accrington Stanley are delighted to have had our Football League status confirmed for 2009/10 with the news that we have officially increased our covered seating capacity to over 2,000 while maintaining an overall capacity of over 5,000.

The ground has been inspected by Lancashire County Council and the details of the new capacities passed across to the Football League, who require the above figures to be met by 1st May in a club's third season in the competition.

Speaking about the news Stanley's general manager David O'Neill said "A lot of hard work has gone on over the last few months, with much of it in the planning stages making sure that the ground operates correctly on a match day with the changes that we have put in place. More recently our director Bill Holden has put in a tremendous effort to get the physical job done, saving the club thousands of pounds, and we must also give a big thank you to the army of volunteers that have helped to make sure that the deadline was met. Now this box has been ticked we can get back to concentrating on the running of the club, preparing for 2009/10 and another season in the Football League."

some say its progress, i say its needless expense put on the club by football muppets, who clearly have no idea how to run a business. but it is GOOD NEWS.;)

I think the club, especially Mark who has kept us updated on what's happening, deserve congratulations on this. Nobody seems to want the seats but, if having them means we preserve our league status, then so be it. It seems that the directors have been involved in some very effective wheeling and dealing that has got a nasty job done with the the minimum of expense and disruption.

Thanks too to everyone who chipped in with their time.

Yep well done for dragging your feet for 3 years missing out on grants and then at the last minute lying to the fans and putting seats on the Clayton End, cheers.

Does anyone know whether the seats have gone back in the whinney hill stand, cow shed, scratting shed. And if they have, someone was suggesting last Saturday that all that whinney hill side will be just far away fans next season.

Is this the case?

Not too sure, My understanding from this thread and things in programmes Etc. is that the "Cowshed" will be seated 1/2 and 1/2 ..... Maybe Southern will answer this question... :)

I am sure the plan is to leave segregation as it is - but if we get an instance where we could get another 200 or so away fans in then a fence could be erected to give them the whole bike shed

That was my understanding as well. It's what I was told when I got my season ticket as well

I don't particular want to sit down, but I just find with my eyes it's lot easier to see both goals from under that shed.

:)i was there on tuesday afternoon helping, and as i under stand it at the time we had an extra 200 seats in the clayton end 5 rows and a few extra in the main stand.160ish going in the whinney home section and none in the away section at that time, but those who have worked on the other day/nights would be able to say if there was seats in the cow shed

Again to try and pass on what I know (it may not be the exact facts as I don't visit/work at the ground on a daily basis)

The main focus of the seats I have have consistantly said, despite being critised by some, was to get the seats in under cover by the 1st of May.

Orginially there was no intention to use the Clayton End, as that would reduce capacity.

We wanted to put something new on the Whinney Hill, but as there are only 40% grants currently available, we felt that it was unwise to take the club into debt.
We want to buy some modular, pre-build stands (lego/maccano type) but the design we required is not available.

All the experts said the cheapest way was to do exactly what you see now; seats under the Cow Shed and seats to the front of the Clayton End.

With regards to the "exacts" of the Cow Shed. Again I havn't been on the ground since Wednesday evening, but I believe the intention was to seat it all. Whilst there is a largeish gap at the back of the seats, this will be the walkway and no standing will be officially allowed.

With regards to the segregation and layout of the ground: again the main emphaise is to get the job done. We now have 3 months until the start of next season to sort out the finer points. I believe we should firstly find out what the users of the old Cow Shed want before making any firm decisions (however that is my own view only:rolleyes:) But whatever happens we will have to conform with the Safety Certificate issuers LCC.

Thanks Southern :) At least we are still getting some information from the club. I think most of us have accepted that it has had to be done and now we must just look forward to next season's push for promotion :D Thanks for the post mate.

My wife and I went to buy season tickets for the cow shed and were told by Lee that the whinney hill terrace was all to be used by away support. I said at the time it seemed a little strange, as the away support would very rarely fill all the cow shed and the Coppice end. There you are thats what I was told by Lee.

If that's the case then those seats are going to be mainly empty for most of the season, whilst the Stanley fans are going to be crammed into the clayton end.

I am not sure I understand the logic in that.

Posted via Mobile Device. Unless the demand for standing terraces within our home support is such that the alternative is that it retains 3 parts of the ground on days where there is less away support, as such to sell the away the cow sheds seats at the higher price than the terrace whilst offering possible growing home support that is standing - just a thought.

Re: Please Read; The Seats The Facts!!

I am led to believe that the seats have been permanently removed from the away section of the Whinney Hill Stand but the seats are still there in the home section.
