Didn't know Mannix was from Welchie country:
Ex-Liverpool FC and Winsford junior footballer David Mannix facing FA probe - Mid Cheshire Chronicle |
Re: Sky news players charged bury game
One thing is for sure this betting probe is a very unpleasant and embarrassing affair for the club and its supporters particularly after the positive news we had regarding season ticket sales for next season (apparently we have already sold 600). Regarding the betting there are some very negative rumors going round and whilst you obviously cant believe everything you hear I have a feeling that what Neilhag posted earlier on the lines of this being the tip of the iceberg could be crucial certainly there is still a huge deficit between what the bookies said they had taken on the game (£281,000) and what the players had allegedly bet (some £10,000) this even allowing for the £20,000 they normally take on division 2 games still leaves in my eyes £250,000 unaccounted for. I only hope any further investigations don't yield any more bad news for the club. I was disappointed and could not understand the stance that Jimmy took when discussing Cav in the LET when the FA rules are clear and straightforward in relation to players betting on matches. I honestly hope this all thing has a positive outcome for the sake of all the loyal stanley supporters who deserve better.

on that basis, i noticed stanley were 7-1 on brenford site last night, very good odds, be interesting to see if these gamblers put quarter of a million on those odds. might even have a punt meself.:)

Re: Sky news players charged bury game
Please correct me if I'm wrong and my memory is playing tricks, but I thought that it was stated at the time that the bets were not simply on Bury to win but on a score of 2 - 0 to Bury.

Re: Sky news players charged bury game
nah they are odds which reflect the game, brentford are top of the league. The bury odds where strange and a cock up by the bookies which many people jumped onto not very often they make mistakes like they did

Cavanagh to plead not guilty
"I can't say too much about the charges levelled against me but I can confirm that I will plead not guilty. My conscience in clear and I will fight my case to clear my name against these charges. I want to reassure fans that, as club captain, I always have and always will give my best in any match and will continue to do so for as long as the club and the fans want me to". :) oo ahh. |

Accrington Stanley skipper wants safety secured (From Lancashire Telegraph)
Was browsing the LET archive when I came across the above article, from just before the news broke. Couldn't help smiling at the (presumed) misprint in the last line.:) |
