McNeill still on. Seemed to have a problem with his ear last time I saw him in from the Clayton End. Hope that's sorted now.

Coley blames finances.
Cash cost Accrington Stanley in Hughes chase, says boss (From Blackburn Citizen) In different circumstances he might have been able to use some of the Ilyas money so finances don't interest me. |

Re: Players Sign Up
Can someone tell Coley that he is dealing in the real world, cash is nearly always king so look elsewhere there are plenty of players around still looking for clubs. The next few weeks will see desperation set in when they realise that at the lower levels money is tight. The alternative to taking a drop is come and join the rest of us if you can get a job.
|
Re: Players Sign Up
fail to see what coleys doing wrong, he has to try to get the best he thinks is available if the cash on offer aint enough then tough, whats he supposed to do? sign cheap *******? its you that wants to join the real world.
|
Re: Players Sign Up
Good to see Coley trying to get a bit of quality in. Can't blame the player for choosing better money and higher league but fair play to Coley for trying. Okay, we've missed out this time but if you don't try you don't get. As has been pointed out, there's going to be plenty of players around this summer so there's always next time

Having a quick look around on the internet and it seems as though loads of clubs were after him. I hope Sky aren't jumping the gun before the deal's done and we get pipped at the post.

Richard Langley starting 2 week trial today.
Is seeking to re establish self after serious injury. Ian Holloway will have known him during earlier QPR days. Re: Players Sign Up
Some Blackpool fans posts on proposed Langley trial
"Blackpoolforlife As IH said "I would not leave a companion of mine who worked so hard for me in the past out on a limb, I'm using my position at Blackpool to help a friend and see if I can get him fit enough for someone to give him a job." Good on you mate, if he does turn out to be upto scratch, I hope that he shows the bit of loyalty that IH has shown him, and signs for us I am warming to this guy day by day, he is in charge and I think he is not scared of shaking things up" "dont forget this is the same langley that absolutely ran the show and destroyed us in the 5 - 0 mauling couple of seasons ago and i think he got a hat trick ... if he can recapture some of that form would be well worth the punt and if not we have got him upto fitness for a lower league club ... no harm done were not paying him to train!" |
Re: Players Sign Up
sounds promising but Coley will absolutely have to insist on a pay as you play deal considering his injury record. Would Langley accept that?
|
Re: Players Sign Up
I think that would be essential Macca, as we don't want another one that gets paid for sitting on the bench. But do we need another central midfield player? Surely there are other positions that need sorting out first?
|
Re: Players Sign Up
The above 2 posts are spot on, he does look injury prone so we must be careful as to how we pay him and as TM and one or two others have said we have more midfielders than enough. Would defo like to see the keeper/defence sorted out. :)

Re: Players Sign Up
still sounds promising though Haggis, as both he and his manager are accepting of a loan deal depending how pre-season works out for him. Our problem is that in doing that he won't be having a pre-season with us and we may have to sign Halliwell whether he is 100% suitable or not.
|
Re: Players Sign Up
I can't really comment on Halliwell, as he had next to nothing to do on Tuesday night. He did have one catch to make, which he dropped, but it was hammering down with rain and the ball was like a bar of soap....lol
I wouldn't be surprised to see Kempson at Halifax today. |

On fishy site.....Squad news
Tuesday 21st Jul 2009 http://www.accringtonstanley.co.uk/gfx/news/ball.gifhttp://www.accringtonstanley.co.uk/gfx/news/line.gif Kempson and Kee sign deals http://www.accringtonstanley.co.uk/g...cs/kempson.jpgJohn Coleman is set to make two new additions to the squad this evening, with defender Darran Kempson and striker Billy Kee both agreeing deals. Central defender Kempson will be joining us for a third spell, having previously had loan spells here while with Preston North End and Shrewsbury Town in 2004 and 2008 respectively. This time the 24 year old has agreed a permanent one year deal after leaving Wrexham this summer. Meanwhile 18 year old striker Billy Kee is set to join on loan from Championship side Leicester City, initially until 1st January. The Northern Ireland U19 international has recently signed a one year extension to his contract at the Walkers Stadium after netting almost 50 goals for the youth and reserve team in the last two years. Both players will be available to play in our pre-season friendly at Radcliffe Borough this evening. Last night a mixed side won 1-0 at Heswall with Sean McConville scoring the only goal of the game |
Re: Players Sign Up
Liked Kempson when he was with us last and am hopeful that he can do the job that Charnock (Well at least 75%) did for us last season :). Kee seems to be the deal of the season on paper!! So lets hope he is. :):)
|
Re: Players Sign Up
What happened to the goalkeeper we signed on non contract terms last season - take it he has left the club.
|
Re: Players Sign Up
you meen zak hibbert he is now at southport
|
Re: Players Sign Up
I, too, am pleased to see Darren Kempson return . . with, surely, a great deal more experience which will complement his natural ability.
But how about young Billy Kee? The lad was completely new to me, but having scored a hat-trick within hours of joining the club I think he'll do just fine! |

he put a good challenge in on their keeper (14/15 stone?) in the first few minutes. He went up fair and square, kept his arms down and won the header against the keepers outstretched fists. The keeper won the free kick even though it was he who jumped into Kee (and lost).
Like a shorter and fitter version of Evil  but with a bit more talent |
