Players Sign Up
...or agree to sign, or in negotiation, or expected to sign in next week.
http://www.accringtonstanley.co.uk Yep, same news as we've heard in the press for some time really. Out of all the names mentioned, only four are contracted players for 09/10 (Miles, Mullin, Mullin and McConville) Why such delay in putting pen to paper when deals are agreed? |

We offered a squad player a new contract in February but he was dithering...so it was withdrawn. He's since left and signed for somebody else. So.... , but at least we know what is needed. Players seem to think they hold all the cards. However with the numbers looking for a contract has the pendulum swung the other way? Great to see we play each other on Boxing Day. A return to a good old fashioned derby game at the festive time! :thankya::thankya::thankya: |
Re: Players Sign Up
Well, If "the manager is in negotiations with Chris King" then I for one wouldn't know who to believe.....
Having just been on the P.F.A. (sorry, haven't got a link!!) list of transfer listed players about 5 mins ago, a Christopher King of A.S.F.C. is listed on their ( P.F.A.) available players list for free transfer???? Incidentally, There are quite a few young goalkeepers on their available list, recently released by Premier league clubs. Admit that wages will always be an issue and can the Club still attract these players to come an play at Stanley.?? Quite interesting to read some of the other names listed....Pawel Abbott listed as available free....,probably wants top dollar wages, however somebody will get a bargain there!! If Coleman is supposedly looking at bringing in some of the players that the fishy site is listing and the contract negotiations and deals supposedly signed / agreed are to be believed, then maybe, just maybe there is hope that next term won't be the apocolyptic struggle that I've been dreading!!!:o |
Re: Players Sign Up
Chris King is a free agent - his contract ends/ended this month so he has every right to be listed as a free transfer. But many players would prefer to stay where they are than move somewhere else for little or no difference. But it was stated somewhere (Observer?) about a month ago that the sticking point would be the reduced basic and increased appearance money that he was offered in lieu of having missed 5 months of this season. Without having set the world alight here, and only having the Welsh team on his recent CV he would probably struggle to get a good deal elsewhere - unless he went part time and got a job! Good defender though so I hope he signs.
Pawel Abbott? If you've got a bit of money to throw around he would be worth signing as he does tend to bring a decent price in transfer fees (£125k, £150k and £100k in his last three) so you'd look for a decent half season from him and then hopefully sell him in January. But as Darlo had a reputed £2.9m wage bill last season and he would have been one of the better earners I think that the likes of us wouldn't even pick up the phone! I wouldn't be surprised to see Morecambe start spending a bit though and maybe they'd be looking at him? |
Re: Players Sign Up
Although King Kenny is going to sign for Dale ,am i right in thinking hes still a stanley player until the end of the month?? if so can't we make him a better offer and try and keep him..just athought:)

I (and I'm sure a few others) would just like to know why there's such a delay in them actually signing on the dotted line. Is the club letting their contracts run out before beginning new ones or something? Answers on a postcard... |

For those who think that its all jobs for the lads, well it is one in the eye :) Jay bell could quite easily have been picked more often to ensure he was paid more, but it looks like somebody has had the b**** to stick to their guns... Things are looking up at the moment in my opinion.....
:) |
Re: Players Sign Up
The thing is with Jay Bell hes an extremely nice guy but after refusing an offer from Accrington what is he going to do now? Tbh i dont think any league sides or even bsp will be after him? Maybe he thinks he will get signed up! He couldnt of been on alot of money this year so it must of been really bad for him to refuse the offer. But oh well, its not a huge loss!:130:

Re: Players Sign Up
The thing is, as a club we cannot afford to pay players to be injured for the majority of the season - that is a hard fact of life at Stanley (Life being the keyword!) Leam and Kingy are good players in my opinion, but did not do a great deal for us last season..
|
Re: Players Sign Up
I just hope that the club have obtained medical opinion on the players' ability to play 30+ games next season before offering them pay-as-you-play deals, rather than merely going off their injuries last season. To lose a player like Leam Richardson would be a massive blow, especially if he goes on to play League football next season for another club.

Re: Players Sign Up

I like Leam a lot but we can't afford to carry anyone anymore, for that reason alone Leam would be on my transfer list. And for the same reason Cav. I can't find any real history on Chris King other than 141 games in 6 years for TNS, but there is no break down as to how many per season - he may not have broke into the team for 3 years and then played 47 games a season for the next 3 years. But just off his performances last year and the fact that he had one injury that kept him for the rest of the season after 27 straight games, I'd like to have ensured we keep him. |
Re: Players Sign Up
Come on guys let's sort this one out. We'll need every bit of quality next season in order to survive and progress and there's no doubt LR has the quality. And up until last season, his injury record was pretty good.
Surely the new management can find a few £ from down the back of the sofa to improve the terms, if not the principle of the deal a bit? And for Leam's part i hope the paper talk is just brinkmanship and that he'd be prepared to compromise too if the club showed some goodwill. (i normally only lurk on the forum but i'm really concerned about this one) |

Re: Players Sign Up
Great news at last :):):)
Squad news Friday 26th Jun 2009 Trio sign new deals Jimmy Ryan, Phil Edwards and Chris Turner have all put pen to paper on new two year deals this afternoon, ensuring that they will start the season as Accrington Stanley players in 2009/10. Midfielder Jimmy Ryan joined Stanley last summer following his release from Shrewsbury Town, making 47 appearances and going on to become our leading goalscorer with ten goals, many of them spectaclar strikes from distance. He showed himself as something of a free kick specialist and was many people's player of the season last year. Defender Phil Edwards was at the heart of our defence in every first team match last season, including all 46 league games, both of our FA Cup fixtures and the Carling Cup and Johnstone's Paint Trophy matches. He has been at the club since October 2005, and was a key member of our Nationwide Conference winning season. Chris Turner graduated from our youth team, signing a first year pro contract last summer. The winger got his opportunity for a start this January after John Mullin picked up an injury in the warm up, and took his chance to earn his stake for a regular spot in the team. All three players will now join up with the rest of the squad on Monday morning for the start of pre-season training. 2 Year deals, that is great :) If the worst does come then we may end up getting cash for them..... |
Re: Players Sign Up
That's fantastic news for the club. It's a real bonus they have all signed two year deals. Things really starting to take shape at the moment. Can someone now provide an updated list of players who are contracted.
I'm assuming a goalkeeper and striker will now be the priority signings. |
Re: Players Sign Up
I think Mullin, Mullin, Miles, Murphy, McConville, Edwards, Turner, Ryan, Ami, Joyce, Grant, Winnard, Procter and Burton... Must have missed some..
|
Re: Players Sign Up
Praise be.
|
Re: Players Sign Up
Phil Edwards is the best footballer at the club and Jimmy Ryan had a great season last time out. I'm amazed, yet delighted to have kept them.
|
Re: Players Sign Up
Top news! Phil should now be given the captaincy IMO.
Valairian I don't think all those you mention (Proccy for example) have signed on the dotted yet...... .....but maybe this news will encourage them to do so! |

Wednesday 17th Jun 2009 Team takes shape for 2009/10 The Accrington Stanley squad is starting to take shape for next season, with John Miles putting pen to paper today and Andrew Procter agreeing a deal to keep him at the club. Stanley manager John Coleman is currently finalising negotiations with Ian Dunbavin to keep him at the club, at the moment the only registered goalkeeper following the departure of Kenny Arthur to Rochdale. Hear what you are saying, it does not say he has signed......:):):) |

Brilliant news that these three have signed - let's hope it opens the floodgates for the others who have reportedly agreed their own deals. Things are definately looking rosier :)

Both will return for pre-season training on Monday. |

well that does make a refreshing change, well done Chris.
now from a selfish point of view it would be hoped that he can continue his progress and if clubs like Huddersfield, Carlisle and Oldham (rumoured) have been looking at him already you would assume that there is some good money to be made on the lad in the near future. Thank god he's on a two year deal! |

Re: Players Sign Up
More put pen to paper :):)
Squad news Friday 3rd Jul 2009 Four more put pen to paper on agreed deals Four of last season's squad have now made their place at Accrington Stanley official by putting pen to paper on their agreed deals this afternoon. Michael Symes, Andy Procter, Robert Grant and Peter Murphy have all signed their contracts to take their place in the Stanley squad for 2009/10. Striker Michael Symes spent a month here at Accrington Stanley at the end of last season and has now signed a one year deal following his release by Shrewsbury Town. The 25 year old made seen appearances for us last season, and scored the winning goal at Grimsby back in April. Meanwhile Andy Procter has signed a new two year deal, keeping him at the club until 2012. The 26 year old central midfielder joined Stanley in February 2002 and ha been a key member of the side throughout our rise back into the Football League. Former youth team players Robert Grant and Peter Murphy have also signed new deals. Winger Grant made his debut as a 16 year old youth team player at MK Dons in May 2007, now 19 and after his first year as a full professional he has signed for a further twelve months. Defender Peter Murphy has put pen to paper on a six month deal after missing most of last season through injury. The 19 year old can play anywhere across the back four and started last season well before a knee injury saw him ruled him out for most of the year. |
Re: Players Sign Up
And one more :):)
Squad news Friday 3rd Jul 2009 Leam added to squad Defender Leam Richardson has also this afternoon signed a new one year deal to keep him at the club next season. The 29 year old full back signed for Accrington Stanley at the start of our Nationwide Conference winning campaign, making the left back place his own throughout the season. He has made 130 appearances for the club in his time here, though last year was restricted to 18 appearances due to injury. Think most of us will be happy about this one :):):) |

Re: Players Sign Up
Don't laugh David May turned down the chance to play at Accy and ended up playing for Bacup. Realistically they or just above them is about Newbys level now certainly not Div 2 material. It cant be the money or facilities that attracts them there.
|
Re: Players Sign Up
David May? and that was the season after he won his Champions League medal if I remember rightly. I believe the story went something along the lines of him not wanting to go training as someone of his calibre didn't need it, so Coley bombed him out.
|
Re: Players Sign Up
That may be the story that was put about in the club house, but in an earlier life (circa David Mays poss signing) I remember Coley + other officials waiting for him to come and play in an evening pre season friendly and he didn't turn up. His loss, or did he really need to play again at a lower level than Man U so close to his career pinnacle. Only played a few times at Bacup and you must wonder why.
