Slightly Worrying!
Administration looms for Southend
http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/image...uthend_226.gif Officials from HM Revenue & Customs are seeking to place Southend United Football Club into administration because of an unpaid tax bill. The club were due to go to court to face a winding-up order on Wednesday, but were told that the HMRC changed its position on Monday night. They will now face an administration hearing on 4 November. In a statement on the club website, chairman Ron Martin said: "We are not looking to escape debts." Martin added: "Mine and my family's life has been entwined with Southend United, often taking up every waking hour and I have been doing my best, and will continue to do so, to make sure than HMRC do not rip this from us. "Their hostile action is not only unwelcome but also destructive Have we been given the same sanction???? |
Re: Slightly Worrying!
We are not alone.I am sure there could be more.

Re: Slightly Worrying!
Are we different, as we have already been faced with a winding up order???? Confused and all it would take is for somebody at the club to put us in the picture  :)

Re: Slightly Worrying!
I don't fully understand why we are subject to a winding up order, as opposed to administration.
Does anyone know exactly why it is a winding up order? |
Re: Slightly Worrying!
I might be wrong but under administration they come in and asset strip you until the debt/debts are paid. We have nowt to strip

Southend can probably cover the £600,000 they owe with assets. It may cost them minus 10 points, loss of the majority of the squad, having to rent the ground and a likely relegation. BUT there will still be a Southend after it. |
Re: Slightly Worrying!
Weymouth too now in the same boat as Southend - they have suffered over the last few seasons, at least, hopefully, we will have a club come middle of November.

Re: Hyde United
Where & at what time is everybody meeting up?
We could do with a signifcant amount of people attending this game. Do we have any numbers so far? |
Re: Slightly Worrying!
League One side Southend United were also given a week to settle a £690,000 debt with HMRC or face a winding-up order yesterday
Good luck Southend utd |
Re: Slightly Worrying!
Did you know that when Accy Transport stopped running it's trams, they were sent to Southend? A useless piece of information, so I'll shut up now.

Re: Slightly Worrying!
I dont think its the same as if the club think they have enough time to pay the bill, then the dont need to go into admin, just like we did, but if theirs was a shorter time scale and the bill is too big for the time, then they go into admin and pay it a different way
Anyways good luck to them and any club struggling, not an easy time |
Re: Slightly Worrying!
Good luck Southend and Weymouth, not an easy time :(

Re: Hyde United
Would like to go but last time we went to Hyde on public transport it was a nightmare - bus, tram, another bus and many differing directions from people along the way [ sorry but think I'll give it a miss.
