We want your manager!
Bradford City want your manager please................... :)
|
Re: We want your manager!
Not as much as we want him!!!!! :) :)
|
Re: We want your manager!
It wouldn't work. He doesn't have any experience of working with money, or a large fan-base .... :)
|
Re: We want your manager!
So you want a manager who has God like status at his present club, works with the smallest budget in the division and will jump ship to a club further down the league just because that club thinks it is bigger.
You're on the wrong forum, go and ask on the Bolton forum ;) |

Dean Windass ? Thats a stepdown from skysports commentator.
Bradford are no longer a big club. Bigger gates but thats all. Coley wouldn't move to yourselfs when he is on the verge of acheiving greatness here by taking us one league above your 'big' club. |

I wouldn't be so quick to discount the rumours, it may come back to haunt us (ala Coyle scenario)
I would hope that when Coley gets offered a job somewhere else, he remembers that Mark Cooper went from employed, to Championship to dole in under 10 games or so..... Stay Coley, job for life fella! |

Re: We want your manager!
Coley & Jimmy as with certain players through their achievements so far this season are going to attract interest from other clubs that is part and parcel of the game.
Bradford may have a large fan base, great training facilities, a great stadium but they are still very much a Club in transition, unlike the Reds who have come through the Leagues and with everything that has happened this season are probably as daft as it sounds maybe on a more sound footing? All we can hope is that both the management duo carry on enjoying what they do and carry on building upwards with Stanley On Stanley On |
Re: We want your manager!
Apologies for the prick above. I am a city fan, but nothing like him.
What i think hes getting at is that we have massive respect for your management team and cant quite understand how a team can improve every year for 10 years seen as we've managed the opposite. The majority think he would be a great replacement for McCall because for his outstanding record at Stanley. As much as you are above us in terms of league position, you cannot doubt the potential of our club and whilst our current position is deserved, should have the means of getting out of this position soon. Surely the prospect of a massive budget (in comparison to Stanley's) and the relative potential of the club are an attractive propect to your manager. I for one want him to come to the club after he has done such an outstanding job over there in Lancashire on a tiny budget. Oh, and our training facilities are **** so dont worry, that wont swing it. James |
Re: We want your manager!
James
I am sure the lure of a City Club with all that brings would open most peoples eyes but big budgets count for next to nothing in League 2 & probably League 1. I would have thought that any vacancy at the Bantams will attract high calibre & high profile candidates that may be more in keeping with your massive budgets? |
Re: We want your manager!
Im not suggesting we have a huge budget, we dont.
Just the success he has had with your club with such a small budget puts him in good stead for having a larger one. We had to make massive cuts this year budget wise but it is still massive compared to yours. I know it counts for little but should mean we can attract better players. If they are then coached in the right way, success should follow. Personally i dont want anyone high profile. I want a league 2 manager that knows league 2 and conference players. I want the new man to build a good league 2 side playing decent football. Ala Rochdale, Bury. |
Re: We want your manager!
All things considered, I can't see Coley leaving for Bradford. Not now, not in the summer, not ever. Of course Bradford have a large infrastructure, reasonable budgets and a guaranteed big following for years to come... However it'll take time to sort out Bradford's squad and nobody gets enough of that in football these days, especially with how 'supportive' the bantams tend to be when things aren't going their way at home. Coley's built a brilliant team here and won't want to let that go (nor will Bradford be able to afford the players he'll want from us now we don't have to sell anyone). Here we have what most clubs don't; potential and room to grow in every direction. As a club, we're in the most positive position in the land; no debts, a young talented squad and belief oozing bouncing between the dressing room and the stands. There's no reason for Coley to leave as the journey is only just beginning.
Let's leave this silly talk and pick it up again when the inevitable nears its reality (after Rafa gets sacked ;)) :) |

Re: We want your manager!
You couldnt blame coley to be honest! Such a massive massive club with an enormous town! The facilities and ground are second to non and they have a massive fan base! But with the amount of years coley has been here and also with the team he has created this season there is no way he will leave! Its a little worrying as you can understand the temptation. Playing in an enormous ground, having 1,000 travelling fans follow you across the country, having 12,000 fans watching you at home, having indoor and outdoor training facilities, getting a bigger wage, having more options to get players in and having more attractive pluses to get better players to the club etc etc. It wont happen though, especially not this season and hopefully not for a long time to come!
Also aswell dont forget that this is a thinking time for a manager like Coley, he may be thinking if i dont go for this could i regret this opportunity because in all honesty all managers want to progress! He can do this with Accrington however not taking the opportunity to move to a big club and a big opportunity he could regret for the rest of his life! If he stayed at Accy forever he will always wonder how far he could have gone, given the right opportunity, it is human nature unfortunatly. Anyways i dont think he will, he loves Accrington Stanley and Accrington Stanley love him!! LONG LIVE COLEY!! |

This has just appeared on teamtalk
Stanley: Bantams not after Coleman | Bradford City | English League Two | Football News from TEAMtalk Something rather alarming comes up in this and that is that Coley and Jimmy are still not contracted to the club. If this article is right then they both could just walk away and we'd get no compensation and be left right in the brown stuff. I was under the impression that this had been sorted as soon as we dealt with the taxman in october. Why the delay? We don't have the luxury anymore of trusting to loyalty, Coley and Jimmy are starting to attract some major admirers and sooner or later an offer is going to be on the table that they might want to give a go. (hangs head in shame), it's great seeing you do so well and you must be one of the best run clubs in the country And yes I am jealous of your management team, you have something special at accy and I hope you keep progressing through the leagues!!!.
|
Re: We want your manager!
We want him because his record is so good, I think he was an outsider on our boards but the closer we look at his record the better bet he looks, definitely a groundswell of support growing for Coleman now.
I think an ex-bantam is a no-no and the 3 top guys in Div2 (who'll know all about our squad) are obvious, Hill, probably going onto higher things quickly, Knill, said he's not interested (as if) but he is too ugly anyway, and Coleman. We'll see, be bitterly disppointed if we end up with journeyman manager or a minging one like Dowie. I don't think anything will happen soon, I think we are going to see out the season and then make our move, no point in upsetting another club now and not much chance of a successful manager moving now. What if we give you "big club" pre-season friendly as a sweetener:) |

Re: We want your manager!
So he would take a club to a league higher than yourselfs, also a club in which he is already a legend having developed it from the darker non-league days. He aint no Owen Coyle ;)
|
Re: We want your manager!
You say it as if a manager has never dropped down a league - we just need to look at our neighbours Leeds for proof of that. (And thats IF you guys go up). And whilst you bring up Owen Coyle, would he not have been classed as a legend at Burnley before moving on? Hence the unruly reaction he recieved from the Burnley fans when the two sides came head to head. I'm not going to justify it with that were bigger than you rubbish as others would (the main reason i dont post on the BCFC forums - a lot of our fans have that attitude as you have seen on here yourself.). We are who we are. A tinpot club in a tinpot league with a bit of history behind us. As far as I am concerned we are going no where fast. However, the view I take is how far can accy go really? And that too, it would seem, is the same opinion John Coleman has fortunatly for us (IMO) and unfortunatly for you in (it would seem) the majoritys opinion.
|
Re: We want your manager!
I can see the sweat starting to trickle down your foreheads..........
Anyway, you have had him for 11 seasons, why can't we have him for a bit? I read in 442 that he got some abuse from your fans at one time, "Scousers out" type of stuff, abuse of our leader would never happen at Bradford:D "John Coleman's Bradford Army" will soon be echoing around the Crown, he won't be able to resist............ |
Re: We want your manager!
For goodness sake, do you lot not have a forum of your own to spout on?
Or maybe you're all closet Stanley fans - you say you covet our manager but maybe you're all wishing you are part of the Stanley family :) |
Re: We want your manager!
Yes, there are several Bradford forums. All as rubbish as the last. As I said, AccyMad, I come in peace and am not looking to cause trouble. Being "AccyMad" I would imagine you would want info on the imminent departure of your manager at the end of the season. And youre damn right, I would love to have the kind of spirit, endevour and frankly quality your team posess, perhaps next season.

And I wish you the best of luck for the rest of the season. After we humiliate you that is.

Are chances of us going up are zippo. We are financially stable, very. We have not spent 1p of next years ST money, it's ring fenced for next season, it always is. I have no idea why you think we have spent money, it was an Xmas ST offer that sold 6k+ ST's. The real ST prices for next season have still to be determined and are not even on sale yet. I don't know if your figure of 25% is right, it might be. But, the previous year we had the top budget and even with the cut, this years was top 5. Keep hearing Dowie, but As far as I know one of our co-chairmen is "fixed" on Coleman, I hope he gets him:) You need to make Coleman (and Bell) an offer they can't refuse, sharpish. |
Re: We want your manager!
If you must have a Stanley manager you are more than welcome to the second most successful. He has experience as a director and you could pay him on washers. Can't see coley and jimmy leaving us now we are as stable as we have been in a decade for a basket case club so far from Liverpool. For the sake of harmony in my house I hope nothing comes of this. And Ilyas/Rob/whoever, think it's time someone put pen to paper

Re: We want your manager!
Lets be honest, Bradford have a fan base and infastructure to sit comfortably in the championship if not push to be back in the premiership.
As much as I would be devistated if John and Jimmy left, I could understand it. It makes sense for them, they have alot to gain and not a great deal to lose from a footballing point of view. If they get Stanley promoted our time in league one would be about survival. If they got Bradford into league one it would be about another promotion push. Maybe Accrington has more appeal from a personal point of view for Jimmy and John as it is far easier to commute to from Liverpool; getting to Bradford in the morning rush hour can take upto 2 hours. There is lots for them to consider both on and off the pitch. |

What's the latest on the contract for your two? DAV007, Ok, not in rush hour but Valley Parade to Liverpool is 1h 20 mins, VP is 10 minutes from the M62 he wouldn't be going the Skipton route! |
Re: We want your manager!
For 8 months I commuted between Otley and Manchester @500 miles a week via the Bradford Ring Road - it half killed me and put about 17000 miles on my car. That was 16 years ago - it would not be possible for me now. The traffic is a lot worse now. Then I had to regularly divert off the M62 because of accidents.
Fuel was a lot cheaper then. Cars and fuel are going to get a lot more expensive. I am sure John and Jimmy would rather spend their time with their friends and family than sitting on the M62 with all the sheep. |

Re: We want your manager!
Im currently driving to doncaster daily and unless I leave at 6am, it can often take 2 hours to get past the Bradford turn off.
Thats one of many things for them to consider. What I would like to know; was Stuart McCall just not up to it or did he not have the resource to make significant changes to the playing squad? |

personally i'd offer them both a directorship. Tie them to the club permanently and see if their ideas and enthusiasm can help in that direction as well.

Re: We want your manager!
I understand the sentiments Rob but football can be a very fickle game, one week your the best thing since sliced bread the next your as much use as a chocolate fire guard.
The contracts do need sorting a.s.a.p. with perhaps clauses built in about approaches from other Clubs. I would think Coley & Jimmy would be just as keen to know as we fans are what are the Long Term aims of the Club in terms of maybe a five year plan for playing budgets, facilities, aims & objectives etc. that may be just as important to them as anything else? Time maybe of the essence? |
