Lincoln Match Thread
Hi all
Me again - keeping you as up to date as I can manage with proceedings here at Sincil Bank. Team news is in and Stanley are unchanged from Saturday's game at Macclesfield in both the starting eleven and on the bench. I'll fire you the line up in a moment. It's a filthy night in Lincolnshire - freezing cold and pouring with rain. The pitch has some water on it but should be fine. Dan |
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
That line up is Dunbavin, Lees, Kempson, Edwards, Winnard, McConville, Ryan, Procter, Miles, Symes, Grant. Subs: Kee, Turner, Mullin, Murphy, King, Flynn, Bouzanis
Our old mate Drewe Broughton starts for Lincoln... I'll have their line-up in a bit |
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
first big shock of the evening then, the side stays the same:eek:
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
They should have a big point to prove to Coley, for keeping the faith with them

At least with King on the bench, we have somebody with a point to prove  :)

Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Teams emerging from the tunnel. Stanley all in yellow.
That's VERY likely to be mud brown by the end for most!!!! |

Re: Lincoln Match Thread
We're off. Stanley kicking right to left as I look at it. Stanley fans making a massive racket in the top left corner of the big co-operative stand opposite me.
The lads have started well. Early pressure |
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Rain has stopped!
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Good luck to the Reds, we do need a big performance and a early goal would settle the side down I am sure
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
6 mins - first chance - Miles lines one up from the edge of the box- deflected behind for a corner.
Miles takes - tame header from Edwards straight @ GK |

Re: Lincoln Match Thread
9 mins - Lincoln's Chris Herd is picked out free at the back post from a free kick - he fires wide though...
10 mins Herd crosses for Broughton who heads wide of the right hand post |

Grant dispossesses a defender on the edge of the box but fires his shot over...
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Mid point of the first half and both keepers have had little to do.
The pitch is far from great and the standard isn't high |
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
29 mins -GOALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!
Symes plays a through ball into the box for Grant, who latches onto it and pokes it into the bottom right corner. 0-1! |
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Bobby - Bobby Grant, Bobby - Bobby Graantt!!!!!!
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Ahhh that's nice to hear .. good man Bobby!
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
16 for Grant, that's now 30 for Grant and Symes this season  :)
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
34 - good feet from Ryan allow him to feed Lees up from right back. he crosses to the back stick where Procter heads goalwards, but his effort comes down off the crossbar.
Close! |
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Imps sub, Ian Pearce on for Nathan Baker.
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
The Stanley policy might be to get at Pearce now. He isn't the youngest and has been suffering from a bug in the run up to the game...
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Showing as 1-1 on Sky now. Have Lincoln equalised?
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
4 mins til the break here - Stanley looking good
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
top stuff Dan you are a legend!
your posts remind me of the time I watched a Frank Bruno fight on Ceefax!!!!! keep up the good work |
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Correction made - still 1 - 0 to Stanley
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Good old Sky
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Come on lads, let's keep it tight until half time :)
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Lincoln have just had a great chance - Edwards missed a clearance, Steven Lennon raced in but took a touch and Winnard lashed it behind for a corner.
Sky must be rubbish. Still 1-0! |

Thanks for the updates Dan |
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Good stuff so far we need to get that goal difference going tho, notts countys might count for alot come the end of the season.
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Could do with the Shrimps equalising again - the Welsh are doing all we could ask of them.
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
We could do with a Paul Mullin goal in the second half!
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
That's half time friends...
To summarise -a quiet start from both sides, half chances knocking about in the opening 20 odd minutes. Stanley's goal came from one of their best moves - Symes had been pretty quiet until picking that pass with the outside of his right boot. Grant stayed on side, took a touch and poked it home. If Procter had been a bit more lucky his header would have dipped under the bar, and at the other end on the stroke of half time Lennon should have scored. No idea why he took a touch and checked back when clean through. Great tackle by Winnard though. Lincoln look pretty dangerous with Herd down their right - he'll be a threat after the break. There's a kid's game going on now - no updates on that though!!! Hope this is proving helpful to everyone! |
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
And Dave, add doing off air commentary and radio updates to the list of multitasking jobs!
I'd love to say it's an effortless breeze, but I keep forgetting what I've written and what I've said on air!!! |

Re: Lincoln Match Thread
We're off and running again...
McConville is by far the muddiest player. And that Coley header - I too witnessed it. Sheer class. But he was supposed to be defending!!!!! |

|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
I see Walsall are 1-0 up at Elland Road.
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
51 - another superb pass from Symes gets Grant in behind the defence, but it's a tight angle and he slips on his backside as he tries to turn
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Lincoln making another change - in midfield this time, Stefan Oakes off and youngster Matthew Saunders on
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
And Miles has just slipped over, giving him a good shout for the muddiest player award!
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
C'mon Stanley, give us some breathing space - have had too many pancakes to be chewing my fingernails !
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Two shots from Herd for Lincoln - one wide, one over
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Miles fires in a low cross from the left which is headed for Symes and Grant but defender Adam Watts slides in to put it behind
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Lincoln corner now - that man Herd causing problems again
Dealt with by the defence |
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Miles has just been booked for diving...
Raced into the box, shoulder to shoulder with the defender and went down. In Winter Olympics parlance, very low scores for technical merit!! |
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Raith Rovers winning at Aberdeen in t'Cup. "They'll be dancing in the streets ...."
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
63 - last Lincoln change - big striker Lennell John-Lewis is on for midfielder Brian Gilmour
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread

|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Attendance 2779
110 visitors - power to them! Took us over three hours to get here... |
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
McConville cross heade behind by Pearce. Corner
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Miles with the corner - snuffed out but he gets it back and crosses to the back stick - free header for Symes - but it clips the outside of the post and goes into the side netting. Should have hit the target
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Lees penalised for a foul on John-Lewis. Free kick in a postion not dissimilar from a hockey corner...
Headed away and lamped over half way. |
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Procter getting some treatment - will be ok though. 17 mins left...
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Phil Jevons has just scored for the Shrimps to put us up to 8th!
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Good ol' shrimps!
|
Re: Lincoln Match Thread
75 - Symes races through down the left, gets into the box and gets a left foot shot away. Looks destined for the right corner, but the keeper gets down and pushes it behind.
|

Re: Lincoln Match Thread
Unbelievable. 2-1 to Lincoln.
Cross in from left, not cleared at back, drilled across and hit either John-Lewis or a defender. Defeat |
