Lincoln Match Thread

Hi all
Me again - keeping you as up to date as I can manage with proceedings here at Sincil Bank.

Team news is in and Stanley are unchanged from Saturday's game at Macclesfield in both the starting eleven and on the bench.

I'll fire you the line up in a moment.

It's a filthy night in Lincolnshire - freezing cold and pouring with rain. The pitch has some water on it but should be fine.

Dan

Re: Lincoln Match Thread

That line up is Dunbavin, Lees, Kempson, Edwards, Winnard, McConville, Ryan, Procter, Miles, Symes, Grant. Subs: Kee, Turner, Mullin, Murphy, King, Flynn, Bouzanis

Our old mate Drewe Broughton starts for Lincoln... I'll have their line-up in a bit

Pendle Red 16-02-2010 18:31

Re: Lincoln Match Thread

first big shock of the evening then, the side stays the same:eek:

They should have a big point to prove to Coley, for keeping the faith with them

Cannot see the justification in starting with the same Team - in my opinion, just hope that I am wrong, wrong, wrong!!!!! :) :) :)

VALAIRIAN 16-02-2010 18:35

At least with King on the bench, we have somebody with a point to prove  :)

Teams emerging from the tunnel. Stanley all in yellow.

That's VERY likely to be mud brown by the end for most!!!!

We're off. Stanley kicking right to left as I look at it. Stanley fans making a massive racket in the top left corner of the big co-operative stand opposite me.

The lads have started well. Early pressure

Good luck to the Reds, we do need a big performance and a early goal would settle the side down I am sure

Re: Lincoln Match Thread

6 mins - first chance - Miles lines one up from the edge of the box- deflected behind for a corner.

Miles takes - tame header from Edwards straight @ GK

9 mins - Lincoln's Chris Herd is picked out free at the back post from a free kick - he fires wide though...

10 mins Herd crosses for Broughton who heads wide of the right hand post

Mid point of the first half and both keepers have had little to do.

The pitch is far from great and the standard isn't high

Dan 16-02-2010 19:15

29 mins -GOALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!
Symes plays a through ball into the box for Grant, who latches onto it and pokes it into the bottom right corner.
0-1!

34 - good feet from Ryan allow him to feed Lees up from right back. he crosses to the back stick where Procter heads goalwards, but his effort comes down off the crossbar.

Close!

Imps sub, Ian Pearce on for Nathan Baker.

Dan 16-02-2010 19:25

The Stanley policy might be to get at Pearce now. He isn't the youngest and has been suffering from a bug in the run up to the game...

Lincoln have just had a great chance - Edwards missed a clearance, Steven Lennon raced in but took a touch and Winnard lashed it behind for a corner.

Re: Lincoln Match Thread

We could do with a Paul Mullin goal in the second half!

Dan 16-02-2010 19:38

Re: Lincoln Match Thread

That's half time friends...

To summarise -a quiet start from both sides, half chances knocking about in the opening 20 odd minutes. Stanley's goal came from one of their best moves - Symes had been pretty quiet until picking that pass with the outside of his right boot. Grant stayed on side, took a touch and poked it home.

If Procter had been a bit more lucky his header would have dipped under the bar, and at the other end on the stroke of half time Lennon should have scored. No idea why he took a touch and checked back when clean through. Great tackle by Winnard though.

Lincoln look pretty dangerous with Herd down their right - he'll be a threat after the break.

There's a kid's game going on now - no updates on that though!!!

Hope this is proving helpful to everyone!

McConville is by far the muddiest player. And that Coley header - I too witnessed it. Sheer class. But he was supposed to be defending!!!!!
