Northampton Game
Greetings friends
It's warm and rainy at Sixfields where the two teams are going through their warm ups. There are two changes for Stanley, with Charlie Barnett returning in midfield in place of Luke Joyce and Ian Dunbavin replacing Alex Cisak in goal. Stanley: Dunbavin, Bateson, Edwards, Hessey, Winnard, Procter, Barnett, McConville, Ryan, Putterill, Lindfield Dan |
Re: Northampton Game
No starting place for "DJ" then Dan:(
|
Re: Northampton Game
I can keep quiet today, all the part timers are here :)
|
Re: Northampton Game
Out come the teams and so does the sun...
Everyone happy? |
Re: Northampton Game
Pendle, bench is Cisak, Joyce, Turner, Parkinson, Murphy, Hall and Riley.
|
Re: Northampton Game
Whats the score wi Richardson?
|
Re: Northampton Game
:) Afternoon all:)
|
Re: Northampton Game
Cashy, as I understand it Leam has agreed a short term deal.
Yet to be confirmed though. Stanley on the back foot early on and conceded a free kick after 20 seconds, but doing okay |
Re: Northampton Game
4: the first shot - Northampton's Michael Jacobs whallops one well wide
|
Re: Northampton Game
:) Come on yoooooooooou redddddddddds:)
|
Re: Northampton Game
Stanley all in black today by the way. The proper kit and everything!
|
Re: Northampton Game
8: Hessey long distance free kick easily taken by the keeper
|
Re: Northampton Game
afternoon Dan afternoon all
|
Re: Northampton Game
9: Billy McKay fires wide for the home side
|
Re: Northampton Game
It's raining again. What at an odd weather day.
Putterill's just had a cross headed behind |
Re: Northampton Game
The corner was a familiar routine, with Edwards dummying and Ryan hitting it. Straight into a Cobblers player on this occasion
|
Re: Northampton Game
Apologies for being late. I had a note but my dog ate it. Come on Stanley!

Re: Northampton Game
15: Great save by Dunbavin.
McKay sees a shot blocked by Edwards but lofts the rebound and the Stanley keeper reacts brilliantly to claw it away |
Re: Northampton Game
18: Putterill nearly gets around goalkeeper Janssen after latching onto a pass from Bateson.
Corner |
Re: Northampton Game
The Stanley bench is less than pleased - the ref just gave a corner to Northampton when his assistant was flagging for a Stanley free kick for high boot.
The fourth official's just had the hairdryer... |
Re: Northampton Game
Tom Lees just scored for bury!!
|
Re: Northampton Game
Tom Lees has scored.
Got there before me Val! |
Re: Northampton Game
Just!!
|
Re: Northampton Game
Half hour mark - still goalless and not a lot to report...
|
Re: Northampton Game
31: Dunbavin called into action again:
McKay muscles Hessey out of the way, and finds Gilligan who tries the chip - Bavs back peddles and puts it out for a corner |
Re: Northampton Game
36: Procter RIDICULOUSLY booked for a sliding challenge that won ALL the ball.
I'm about as unhappy with the ref as Coley |
Re: Northampton Game
Five minutes left. Pretty this is not
|
Re: Northampton Game
43: good northampton opening:
McKay brilliantly brings down a long ball from the back and finds Steve Guinan, who squares for Michael Jacobs on the left. His shot curls just wide. |
Re: Northampton Game
And that's half time...
details on fishy |
Re: Northampton Game
Anyone else noticed Blackpool are winning 3-0 at wigan? Should have been at least four mind but Brett missed from 3 yards!!
|
Re: Northampton Game
0-0 half time against yon lot is a good 45 mins in my book, hope turner comes on at some point n maybe we can nick a win.

If we can keep a clean sheet & knick a result down there it will be a job well done. :) |
Re: Northampton Game
It's now absolutely pouring with rain here - going to be a slippy surface in the second half, but the players will be glad to be in the dressing room!
The first half was far from a classic - the home side had the better of the chances and that's largely due to Billy McKay who's been excellent. Stanley are yet to test Oscar Jansson (who looks decidedly dodgy) but have produced some encouraging build up play. |

Re: Northampton Game
The teams are returning and it's still chucking it down - it'll be a nice greeting for them!
|
Re: Northampton Game
And we're back underway - with Charlie Barnett trying to chip the keeper from the kick off!
|
Re: Northampton Game
Greetings everyone - apologies for my late appearance, I've been queueing for my Newcastle tickets for the last few hours. Nil apiece at half time is ok by me - just need to build on it now (hope that doesn't jinx things for us :) )

49: Putterill dispossesses Holt but slips at the crucial moment and scuffs his shot
From the resulting break McKay is behind the last defender, but hits a tame one at Dunbavin and Stanley clear |

|
Re: Northampton Game
Stanley have an injury problem - Dean Winnard's just stretched and pulled up in the Northampton half
|
Re: Northampton Game
He's up and hobbling
|
Re: Northampton Game
Devious Dean'll be reyt.
|
Re: Northampton Game
Now running... can you tell this isn't a thriller?
|
Re: Northampton Game
61: Ryan drags a low shot well wide
|
Re: Northampton Game
Just glad he's up & running again - an injury to Dean is one thing we can well do without
|
Re: Northampton Game
Andy Parkinson is imminent
|
Re: Northampton Game
As is one Christopher "DJ" Turner...
|
Re: Northampton Game
Putterill and McConville off
|
Re: Northampton Game
Hope this one doesn't go to extra time...

Re: Northampton Game
Northampton corner from the right:
Dunbavin comes and drops it under pressure - Gilligan fires in a shot that's blocked |
Re: Northampton Game

It has to be louder than that :D |
Re: Northampton Game
It's now raining so much that the pitch has a moat - the concrete around the perimeter has about an inch of water over it
|
Re: Northampton Game
18 minutes left. Northampton getting frustrated. Fans getting as bit restless (though at least they're making some noise!)

73: best chance of the half so far:
Sub Kevin Thornton finds Gilligan on the left and crossed into mcKay, but Bavs is out swiftly, spreads himself and blocks |

Nay lad, Grunting is quite normal in that part of the world. A Stanley Strike on Target will put a stop to all that........:D |
Re: Northampton Game
We do not do 0-0's!!!!
|
Re: Northampton Game
Coo - eee Dan - have you nodded off? :)
|
Re: Northampton Game
84: bursting run by Parkinson down the left - he finds a cross to Turner, but he's dispossessed inside the box
|
Re: Northampton Game
I'm awake!
Just |
Re: Northampton Game
Four minutes left - Joyce on for Barnett.
Northampton trying to muster a late surge... Barnett's taking his time coming off |
Re: Northampton Game
88: The home side's john Johnson presents the ball to Lindfield, he breaks and shotts wide but it takes a deflection. The corner comes to nowt.
89: Northampton break down the left - Courtney Herbert gets into the box, but slips - Winnard clears. 4 added minutes |
Re: Northampton Game
All over. 0-0 again. Yes, this is still Stanley...
|
Re: Northampton Game
good point fer my money.:)
|
Re: Northampton Game
:) Agood away point :)
|
Re: Northampton Game
Decent away point - much better than last season's result there anyhow - cheers Dan & congrats on staying awake for what sounded a bit of a dreary game :)
|
Re: Northampton Game
Huge improvement on last seasons result!!
|
Re: Northampton Game
Very creditable result. Clearly the defence is looking pretty solid, just need to get the strikers firing now and a great season is in the offing.

aren't we 2 points better off than from same two fixtures last season ?
|
Re: Northampton Game
I'll take a 0-0 against any of the clubs who are looking at promotion, especially away from home.:)
|
Re: Northampton Game
Good result, unbeaten and two clean sheets always good - lets get some strikers in now
|
Re: Northampton Game
Well done Reds. A point down there & a clean sheet is great.

Just back from Coley - his thoughts on the fishy site later.
A professional performance from Stanley - played well defensively and in midfield but just lacked composure in the final third. Bye! |

Re: Northampton Game
Well a sense of deja vu from the Aldershot game.
Look quite solid at the back, but not alot up front. Bavs had nowt to do, but made a great save when he had to. All we need now is a goal machine ;) |
