Oldham thread

Hi all
Here's the team news:

John Coleman has made four changes to the team that lost at Chesterfield for this afternoon's game with Oldham.
Ian Dunbavin, Sean Hessey, Luke Joyce and Ray Putterill return at the expense of Alex Cisak, Jonny Bateson, Peter Murphy and Charlie Barnett.
Stanley: (4-2-3-1) Dunbavin, Winnard, Long, Edwards, Hessey, Joyce, Procter, Ryan, Putterill, McConville, Gornell
Subs: Cisak, Bateson, Barnett, Parkinson, Turner, Murphy, Boulding

Dan

Re: Oldham thread

i'd have thought bateson would have stayed - otherwise it looks good, two to break up play with joyce and proctor should allow proctor to run from deep a little more

1: early corner to Stanley after a good ball for McConville from Putterill

Dan 06-11-2010 14:03

Corner is cleared, but Stanley put it back in to McConville at the back post - he hooks it across the face and the goalkeeper spills before grasping the ball

Re: Oldham thread

Thanks Teach.
I've been quicker though...!

My half time verdict - a very solid 45 minutes, with Ray Putterill catching the eye in particular. Stanley have looked as threatening as ever going forward (the two goals are testament to that) but have also given little away defensively.

Long has looked strong and Hessey has made some crucial interceptions. In front of the defence, Procter and Joyce have looked very good, doing sterling work helping defence out and winning the ball back. All in all very promising.

But we remember Rotherham etc eh?

maccawozzagod 06-11-2010 15:03

Re: Oldham thread

well much as I enjoyed watching Gigglebiz, the best news was returning to another goal having been scored! the midfield duo of Razor and Ryan seem to be back in the groove and away we go, let's just hope that Long doesn't make it 3 penalties in 3 games and that we can hold out

A very enjoyable game,if a little nervy towards the end. A few missed oportunities but their goalie made some good saves. Jimmy Ryan played well, the ultras never stopped singing and made it a good atmosphere. I thought there was more than 2300 specs. All in all a good day and I was 30 out on the 50-50 draw

Coley got it spot on with one word in that piece Dan "Character":hothothot

Remarkable game for any neutrals you would be surprised for seventy minutes who were the higher league team.

To a man the Reds were magnificent showing true desire & great determination to dig into their reserves as the Latics pushed on

There were starring roles in there but the most pleasing aspect was it was a real team effort on the pitch

That was matched by the voiceforous support from the Ultras who once again found their voices and lifted the team and certainly morale around the terrace from the off.

Thats obvious to all but the blind, both players too good fer div 2 n aint rocket science someone will be after em in near future Ray got deserved MoM this aft, if a good offer were to come in, stanley aint in any position to turn it down, a long contract would ensure better offers. hope this simple fact sinks in wi em.

Oldham fan here, had a good day despite the result and our performance for 60 minutes!

Good people you Accrington lot.

Was a proper fast and furious cup tie, Stanley were hungrier and caused us all sorts of problems, but at least our lads had the bottle to not just throw the towel in, and we came sooo close to that equaliser!

Ah well, not to be, and it wouldn't have been the fair result.

Today's result was just what was needed to stop the rot of recent weeks. The defence was very shaky towards the end but I do think that with Bavs back the defence seemed that little bit stronger. Jimmy Ryan and Ray were brilliant but I thought that SM had another stinker of a game, why he gets picked each week I have yet to work out. We really need this game to push and get back up the League 2 table and push on for the Play-Offs.

Macca, was not at his best, but he did set up the second, with a great through ball, plus he did get a few tackles in towards the end.. He will never be a Jimmy Ryan and will always be a John Miles....
