Re: Hereford thread

:) Accrington Stanley have the 4th highest Ground in the football league so it's not really surprising to have games called off this time of year, but at 516ft above sea leval we have a 50/50 chance depending on the weather and with temps at -5.5 last friday night /saturday morning in Accy their was little hope really :(.... for full list of grounds click on the link http://www.midfielddynamo.com/stadia...nd_highest.htm

Aren't we lucky? A ground that's not only one of the highest but also one of the wettest. But at least Ilyas got rid of the slope.

I checked the weather forecasts in advance and called a few people back in Accy and the picture emerging was that of a slight frost but no weather problems, so I came up on thursday night ready for the game. There was no indication of any problem friday; on saturday morning, it seemed OK; then saturday lunchtime, it was off.

So it was a wasted journey - and not a cheap one, at that. Surely there should be some indication on the official site of a probability of a game being on (or not) during the cold weather period, or at least some indication of what is happening and what is the state of the pitch?

Covers WERE ON!!

Went to -7c on Friday night, day time temps were forecast for +4c. Simply didn't happen.

Who's said covers weren't on?? I was there at 8-45 and after a quick brew helped Buzzer to remove the covers. Don't re-call any Accywebs being there, but I could be wrong!!

Wasn't there some sort of scheme this season whereby you got credit in the shop for unused tickets.

It was mentioned at the start of the season, never been mentioned since as far as I know

8-45am SAT AM.:)

Covers were ON, over night. I believe they were on Thursday night as well, and were taken off Friday am to allow the pitch to "air" and then put back on Friday afternoon.

They were certainly on the pitch Friday night.

I have no problem with that Mr T and no reason to doubt you. I was told by a fan that he was walking his dog at approx 6am Saturday morning and he thought the covers weren't on, I asked him if he was sure because it's still dark and he said "I had a good nosy but I wouldn't swear on the wifes life", crap source of info I think.:o
