Here's what Sean McConville has to say on tonight's game - ASFC News Story > 3948

Re: Crewe Thread
If it's not on Radio Lancs, there's a good chance of live commentary on BBC Radio Stoke tonight. It could be on 94.6FM which I think you can get in Accy but they've also got Port Vale v Hereford so our match could be on 104.1FM or 1503MW. Anyway, it's worth a try.

Re: Crewe Thread
Although Dario should be congratulated on his FL Contribution to Football the other night lets hope it works like the Manager Of The Month award does. We can congratulate him after :)

Re: Crewe Thread
Previewing Accrington Stanley Exactly a month on from the 3-2 defeat at Accrington, it is the reverse fixture in a game neither side can afford not to win. We may be clutching at straws with our own play-off 'push' but for as long as we win our home game, we will always stand a chance. A win tonight could still take us to within one point of the top seven, depending on other results of the evening. Accrington meanwhile harbour more realistic play-off dreams. They currently have two games in hand over much of the division, including ourselves, and sit just three points off the top 7 as it stands. However, they struggle with very familiar problems. Despite a solid home form that has seen them win their last five home games, they have struggled with just one win in their last five away game. Vital Quotes: Dario Gradi: 'In the end it all comes down to money with the richer clubs winning more games than the poorer clubs, but Accrington are right in there. 'They take great pride in their club. The ground is an old fashioned one, but it is always neat and tidy. It's spotless and they are a club who look after themselves with the resources they have available. 'They are a dangerous team and play good football. The match at their place was a tight one and could have gone either way on the night and I'm sure this one will be the same.' Sean McConville: "We never got into the top seven last season and that`s definitely what we want to do this time. "If we cement ourselves in there then not only will we be looking at the play-offs but with the form we`re in, we can look even higher. Crewe is another cup final for us." Crewe Alexandra Team News: Dario looks set to chop and change again after defeat at Oxford. Adam Dugdale's mistake for the second Oxford strike looks to have cost him whilst an extra spark going forward could well be found in Danny Shelley. Likely Team: Taylor, Ada, Artell, AM Westwood, Blanchett, Shelley, Bell, Westwood, Murphy, Miller, Donaldson. Player to watch: Danny Shelley From zero to hero to bench ridden, looks likely to start tonight and will be looking to build on his impressive second half against Southend. Accrington Stanley Team News: Stanley are likely to remain unchanged from their weekend win over Vale with a fully fit squad. Likely side: Cisak, Winnard, Edwards, Hessey, Jacobson, Procter, Joyce, Ryan, Craney, McConville, Gornell Player to watch: Phil Edwards A huge threat from set plays, Edwards is Stanley's top scorer with 11 goals... and he's a centre back! Match Facts & Stats Crewe and Accy met regularly up until the collapse of the original Accrington Stanley in the 1960's. After 50 years apart, and just the one early 90's Cup game reunion, we are back with regular meetings. Taking into account the old and the new, Accrington have still had the upper hand with 31 league wins over us to our 26 league wins over them. There's only ever been 8 draws between the two. Ref Watch: Referee will be David Coote. He will be assisted by A Hutchinson and D Plowright and fourth official will be M Weaver. |

Re: Crewe Thread
Yahoooo..Its raining here in the Hawkes Bay..No work...that means I can stay at home and follow STANLEY. Golly how I wish I could listen to Dans dulcid tones...GO THE STANLEY
|
Re: Crewe Thread
Hi Ben n Dan is there meany Accy fans in the places:)
|
Re: Crewe Thread
No official number as yet Mab but they are making a real racket on the far side.
First shot of the night, 3 Mins. Donaldson cut in from the left and fired straight at Cisak |
Re: Crewe Thread
5. Great play again from the tricky Donaldson again on the left, neat back heel allowing Williams to get a shot in at the near post but again straight at the keeper
|
Re: Crewe Thread
Dam..its stopped raining. Please phone,don't ring .
|
Re: Crewe Thread
I don't envy Dean Winnard, everything that Crewe do is coming through the impressive Donaldson who is playing as a left winger neat turn wins the Alex a free kick 20 yards out.
Danny Shelley drove right footed it got a deflection off the wall and Cisak did well to shift his momentum to make the save |
Re: Crewe Thread
Doing a rain dance for ya John!!
|
Re: Crewe Thread
Good girl.
|
Re: Crewe Thread
We seem to be second best at the mo then Ben :(
|
Re: Crewe Thread
10. Fantastic Stanley move started with Craney and Joyce colliding the ball found its way to McConville who found Ryan on the left with a cross field ball. Ryan volleyed in the cross first time and found Gornell who headed wide
|
Re: Crewe Thread
listening to radio stoke commentators reckon sean scored ball underside of bar and then went over!
|
Re: Crewe Thread
Great. I've had 1 x solitary bet today-all on Orient. Down 1-o already. :(
|
Re: Crewe Thread
12. Stanley should be 1-0 up!! Scramble in the box found McConville 6 yards out who turned him man and fired onto the underside of the bar the ball bounced down and while the Reds celebrated the linesman did not flag and play carried on.
From the view in the press box everybody including colleges from Crewe say goal 100% |
Re: Crewe Thread
:( Stanley seem to be blest with naff officals:( Come on you REDS :)

Re: Crewe Thread
25Mins played nothing much to report since the 'goal' that never was. Both sides playing decent pass and move football. It would seem that Crewe have identified Craney as Stanley's danger man three round him when he has the ball.
26. Chance for Stanley Gornell used his power to get one on one with Taylor but his shot with the outside of the right boot was smothered well. |
Re: Crewe Thread
Sparkie..you must be doing it all wrong. The suns out now :(
|
Re: Crewe Thread
Busy on here tonight. Come on reds.
|
Re: Crewe Thread
Torquay and Stevenage both winning.
|
Re: Crewe Thread
30. Joyce 25 yard strike from McConville roll back wide of the left post.
|
Re: Crewe Thread

Re: Crewe Thread

Time for a stanley goal dance???
|
Re: Crewe Thread
35. The Reds again patient on the ball and carved a chance for Craney to cross. Under no pressure the Crewe 'keeper punched and didn't clear the 18 yard box. Test the keep I believe the message will be.
|
Re: Crewe Thread
Listening to Skys score centre, lots of scouts from Premier & Championship.
|
Re: Crewe Thread
Dave in Germany. There is 38 scouts in total. 10 from the Premier League and the rest from the Championship. Who to watch? Who knows?
|
Re: Crewe Thread
Is the half time pie on order?
|
Re: Crewe Thread
It'll be a Crewe player cause isn't Gradi renowned for raiseing great youngsters?
|
Re: Crewe Thread
Isn't coley too kj
|
Re: Crewe Thread
42. First clear cut chance for Crewe Danny Shelly got one on one left hand side of the box did everything right looking for the bottom right corner but Cisak made a smart save resulting in a Crewe corner that Proc cleared.

Re: Crewe Thread
Yea true, but I read about Gradi's reputration years ago. Who could they be after in particular from Stanley.?
|
Re: Crewe Thread
shrimps down to macc.
|
Re: Crewe Thread
Those scouts, do they pay to get in?
|
Re: Crewe Thread
1 min added on. Edwards wins the ball and steps out of defence inside his own half looks to lob the goal keeper. It was on target but Taylor not troubled.
Half time whistle sounds 0-0 but it really should be 1-0 to Stanley McConville on 12 with a shot off the bar and in that was not given. Will that influence the end result? See you in 15 |
Re: Crewe Thread
0-0 half time, think a good morale boosting lecture & out in the second & bang a few in. :)
|
Re: Crewe Thread
If they came to the Crown, they'ld be 2% of the gate..

Re: Crewe Thread
We are back under way. Yet to find anybody who doesn't think the McConville shot was over the line. Shall I let it go?

Re: Crewe Thread
50. First chance of the second half goes the way of Crewe. Long ball found him on the right Hessey forced him wide his shot was well over.
Stanley break Procter header tipped over. Corner. Found Hessey who couldn't shoot but wins second corner |
Re: Crewe Thread

Re: Crewe Thread
Second corner should of brought a goal. the usual short corner and dummy routine. It found Joe Jacobson on the penalty spot unmarked who should of done much better that shooting well over.
|
Re: Crewe Thread
Substitution at Burton-Stevenage ...... the ref ! Serious ! Apparently he's hurt himself somehow & been subbed by the 4th Official. :) It's a funny old game.
|
Re: Crewe Thread
Half shout for a Crewe penalty. Donaldson goal side of Jacobson who recovered brilliantly yo get a touch to take it away from him
Stanley chance its end to end now. 55. Two crosses badly defended by Crewe the ball found Craney who was very calm on the ball to step round his man before firing into the side netting the fans thought it was in and just before I press post reply Craney has another left footed effort wide |
Re: Crewe Thread
Ian Craney has an effort at goal from just outside the box which goes wide of the right-hand upright.

For the neutral this is a banging game |
Re: Crewe Thread
The tempo is on the up at Gresty road i predict a goal before the 70th minute
|
Re: Crewe Thread
spot the very bad spelling. woops
|
Re: Crewe Thread
Sounds pretty lively ! So who's looking the strongest & more likely to put one in ? Ben
Morcambe 1-2 Macc last 2 goals within a couple of minutes of each other |
Re: Crewe Thread
Sounds like a banging game wish I,d gone now.
|
Re: Crewe Thread
I would say Stanley. Craney looking the most likely but even when The Reds in black have a spell of pressure one Alex long ball finds Donaldson and he looks like he has everything in his locker to beat a man a score from range. First goal wins I think.
Must be lively now I just heard a Crewe fan showing support only took an hour! |
Re: Crewe Thread

Re: Crewe Thread
It really really should be one nil to Stanley now. Craney produces a great save from Taylor 20yards out, the rebounded fell to Ryan his header was wonderfully stopped and the follow up again kept out by Taylor it came to Gornell less than 3yards out who had it nicked of his toe and cleared.
We will not come closer! |

Re: Crewe Thread
Yellow card for Joyce. Dan tells me it is the Refs first season in the league and when people shout at him it starts to show. That yellow was to keep the Alex fans happy.
|
Re: Crewe Thread
70. Crewe corner Hessey clears but a Alex free kick is awarded in the Stanley half.
My prediction was wrong but I'm sure there is goals in this one. |
Re: Crewe Thread
Jimmy Ryan clearly fouled nothing doing from the ref seconds later Hessey commits a similar foul resulting in shouting and a yellow card.
The lads doing the Crewe commentary say "He's just not up to it" |
Re: Crewe Thread
Sean Hessey booked for unsporting behaviour
|
Re: Crewe Thread
Cross everything, Gornell down injured after a meaty 50-50
Joe has signaled for a stretcher!!! Oh no!!! |
Re: Crewe Thread
Come on stanley
|
Re: Crewe Thread
vale 0 - 1 bulls come on stanley
|
Re: Crewe Thread
Gornell put very slowly on to a stretcher and carried off to applause from all at Gresty Road. From the signals I can read from up here it may look like a gashed leg bellow the left knee.
Boulding on. 78 Played |
Re: Crewe Thread
Come on you red men in black, nice and tight at the top of League 2, PVale down to the bulls.
|
Re: Crewe Thread
Hopefully its just a gash not anything more serious
|
Re: Crewe Thread
Has boulding gone up front or craney?
|
Re: Crewe Thread
Craney has been joining Gornell to make a front two all evening so its more of the same.
82. Boulding guides a low free kick just wide of the right hand up right with Taylor stranded. |
Re: Crewe Thread
C'mon STANLEY,, get one in.
|
Re: Crewe Thread
As it stands, the Stanley-Crewe match is the only one without a score.
|
Re: Crewe Thread
bbs stats have 9 of our 13 attempts not troubling their keeper - will have to borrow some barn doors for the training ground.
|
Re: Crewe Thread
The 'goal'would go down as off target tho
|
Re: Crewe Thread
Crewe corner.
|
Re: Crewe Thread
Well defended Boulding brings it away.
2Min plus added time left |
Re: Crewe Thread
Pinch one men in black.
|
Re: Crewe Thread
It looks like this one may end nil nil. I have no idea how both sides have had chances that they should of scored 2-2 would be a score that fits the game. But Stanley have scored.
The Gornell injury brings about 5 mins added on |
Re: Crewe Thread
Come on stanley!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
