Re: Nice and early Port Vale match thread.......

I started supporting Accy in 2010 shortly after moving to this area. I do not normally contribute to forums but feel that this is the only way I can vent my frustration at what is now happening at the club.

Like many others I was disappointed at the departure of John Coleman, but was pleased when the club announced that Liam Richardson was to be given a long run, especially after the Gillingham game when the side played without fear, and with a great deal of enterprise and flair.

The next thing, completely out of the blue was the appointment of Paul Cook - completely the opposite of the clubs previous statement re Liam Richardson.

For Mr Cooks first game v Plymouth he dropped Padrig Armond, probably our most dangerous forward, and the team he put out lacked shape, organisation, and did not attempt to play the usual neat passing game - and instead hoofed the ball upfield. No wonder Plymouth played us off the pitch.

Since then we have had a series of completely senseless and totally illogical team changes, and we have the superb record of played 3 lost 3 goals for nil and against 8.

This worrying state of affairs has been written off as a "transitional stage". Another writer has said "why fix it if it aint broken" and I totally agree. The side was OK before Mr Cook started messing it up. I do not think he has a clue what he is doing and I doubt if the players know what they are supposed to be doing either - but Mr Cook is not slow to blame them. He picksthe teams!!!

Last Saturday I watched Preston play, and if this continues I shall be visiting other clubs than Stanley on a Saturday. I was prepared to put up with the twerps who bang drums far too loudly throughout the match, because the team played such good football, but enough is enough.

Please reinstate Liam as manager before this disaster becomes any worse.

I have just noticed that I recorded as being a "Junior Member" on here. Well, I am aged 63 so not a junior, although quite flattering, but not being that great with this type of thing, regret that I do not know how to change the error.

What would you call it then? I thought that we were looking for promotion form, not relegation form, and that it is what it is. I just do not understand the logic of the team selections at all. The lad from Everton seems to be out of his depth but is still in the team. Why drop Hughes? I admit that I am not an expert but having watched football since 1958 I can see when things are seriously wrong.

I can see your problem if you are more enticed to go to Preston. Anybody would struggle to match Westley's free flowing exciting football :D

The form had dipped before these 3 games, Hughes came on lasted 2 mins,so was obviously carrying a knock, If yeh been watching stanley regular its pretty obvious the midfield/defence has been decimated recently, The team selections in that department are whats available at this point, yer just a natural whinger to me, simple as.

Okey dokey, if you want to adopt an ostrich attitude, thats alright with me! Announcing that Liam was going to be given a run then appointing someone out of the blue is hardly consistent and seems a bit strange to me. Call me a natural whinger if you like, but I predict Stanley will not be going anywhere in an upward direction in the next two years. More likely into a nosedive towards the conference.

Before the Playmouth I was actually planning to go the Swindon game, but I had no intention of travelling 5 hours to see another loss.

Some valid points Malcolm, assuming cooky picked the team against Rotherham, the previous 11 games,we won 7,drew3 and lost1 and scoring more than 2goals a game,so it doesn't make good reading. We have now lost 4 and not look like scoring!!!.
Saying that I rate cooky, but wish he would condense the game until we get a few points on board as the pitches will only get worse and not suit his style of play
----keep the faith,it was getting boring winning all the time, and nothing for cashy to moan about lol

Malcolm, I often think of myself as a glass half empty man as far as Stanley are concerned, and I can understand the way you feel at the moment. However, it was an extremely dicey time for the new manager to take over with the recent crucial losses of key players from a young squad, as a result of which we had already showed worrying signs of "losing it" even before King Coley left (Barnet e.g.). Even when beating the Gills 4-3 we looked very frail at the back. Positives I can see are as follows:-

Cook's post match comments from Swindon suggest to me that he grasps the realities of the situation very well and seems very positive as to how we can get back on course. It can't be a quick fix, however, for a club of our resources.

He has already made what seem to be, hopefully, three good acquisitions. I have only personally seen Devitt in action so far, but early impressions are very favourable.

Judging by this messageboard, the fans in general are backing the manager to come good, and hopefully this will show in the crowd continuing to give the team vocal backing at a difficult time.
Keep the faith, Malcolm. Don't vote with your feet!

"I started supporting Accy in 2010 shortly after moving to this area".

You need to have been a Stanley supporter for another 20 years, at least, before you can even begin to start working them out.;)
