Ultimately we have no say in how JC runs the team, but it doesn't stop us from discussing team selection.

If what you say is true, then what's the point of a fans' forum?

Re: Paul Crichton

totaly agree with smiffy crichton was at fault for two goals and two quick to come of his line, id like to know how many times he has been chipped in his carear

Smiffy16 21-11-2004 13:01

Re: Paul Crichton

To me he just looked very dodgy and his decision making when to come off his line etc was very poor, the first goal he should of delt with the lo, long range shot and the last he was chipped when he was way off his line,

I'll give him one more game to prove to us that he's a good addition..

he came off his line a lot at burnley and got lobbed quite a few times.
does anyone think paul cook had a say in the signing as they where together at burnley, he might have told JC to sign him, just a thought.

Re: Paul Crichton

Re: Paul Crichton

Well on paper you can't argue with the signing as his vast experience of over 400 league games must help the team. Yes, he was poor yesterday as I have stated before, but I still believe that he can still do a good job for us.

Whalley Red 21-11-2004 21:18

Re: Paul Crichton

And he only met the four defenders in front of him on Friday. We now finally have the back four settled, it will take a little more time for the five of them to work together as a unit.

No disrespect to Danny Allcock, but the lad was only signed in emergency circumstances when two weeks before the season started we had no keepers signed on at all. Had JK stayed with us all summer, it would have been clear to everyone, including Danny, that any young keeper that we signed was backup only.

Would that include 19 year old Ikeme? ;)

The point I was making was that Alcock is our number 2 'keeper and when JK is out of the team you'd expect him to fill in the gap. However, as soon as JK is unavailable we sign Ikeme on loan and then this Crichton character, rather than giving Alcock a fair crack of the whip.

I could understand it if Alcock had let people down, but for me he's given better performances than either of his replacements. As you say Whalley Red, it takes time for a back four and 'keeper to gel, but how can Alcock and the defence gel if he's only drafted in for the odd game or two?

Perhaps we should be asking why Alcock is being paid to be a full-time member of our squad if Coley doesn't think he's good enough to play more than a game or two? Personally I'd play Alcock and look for stability in the team, rather than chopping and changing the set-up all the time.

We'll probably see a load of posts now saying, "Coley picks the team, you've got to respect his decision, etc", but as I said before, what's the point of a forum if we can't discuss these things? :)
