Bury Match Thread

BIGGEST MATCH OF THE SEASON SO FAR ON FRIDAY NIGHT!!!:rose8:
We need to maintain our momentum and there can be no better way of doing so than by getting THRRE POINTS against The Shakers on Friday night!:alright:
We need a good turn out of support for Coley, Jimmy and the Stanley team so get the buzz going round the town for extra folks to come on and support the team. I am sure that there will be a good turn out of Bury supporters and we need to beat them by being NUMEROUS, COLOURFUL, LOUD and PROUD!!!!!:wave8:
In Division 2 we now have a little gap below us and a win would likely increase that gap over those below us. The three points would also help us to get closer to the Play Off candidates and we would start to become a really serious challenger for a top 7 finish.
So one and all, get down to The Crown on Friday night....Bring your friends and family......:theband:
Be seen IN RED.....SHOUT, CLAP, SING AND WAVE THOSE FAMOUS FLAGS AND BE THAT TWELFTH MAN ONCE MORE IN PLAYING OUR PART IN THE CONTINUING STORY OF OUR WONDERFUL CLUB.
ON STANLEY ON.:wave8::horn8::drink::signbeer:

Terrible weather forecast for the Accy area from noon onwards on Friday , very heavy rain and strong winds .
The last thing the club needs is a 7pm postponement but it cannot be ruled out IF the weather boffins have called it right ?

As others have said, forecast looks horrific, but im sure the pitch can and will hold out.

Not sure about the biggest game of the season, but its always good to win a local derby.

As for the keeper.......... Dawber is the only option at the moment as far as I can see..... Unless a rabbit is pulled out of the hat before Friday?

Theres supposed to be a very promising young keeper in the youth? probably too young n inexperienced though. Just read in L.E.T. Simpson decided to turn a short term loan down to seek regular footy,I fear that will only be Non-League, silly lad.

Taken from a website earlier.

Victor Valdes: Man Utd to sign former Barcelona goalkeeper

By Simon Stone
BBC Sport
Former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes has accepted an offer to join Manchester United.
The Spain international, who has been training with United in his bid to recover from a serious knee injury, has agreed an 18-month contract.
Valdes, 32, won six La Liga and three Champions League titles with Barcelona, before leaving at the end of last season when his contract expired.
The deal could lead to the keeper leaving Old Trafford on loan to gain match fitness - a short term loan has not been ruled out.
It also poses a question about the future of 24-year-old first-choice goalkeeper David De Gea, who was the club's player of the year last season and has excelled again this term.
His contract is due to expire in 2016, although senior United sources have said they were relaxed about him signing an extension to that deal.

On a more serious note. What's the weather like in Accy and is there any danger to the game as I have to leave at midday on Friday and won't get home until 5am saturday.

I've already done one all day wasted trip for Burton so could do without it again at my age :).

Not seen ice on any cars since Sunday. No chance of being frozen off but waterlogged can't be ruled out from the forecast.

I was surprised that Hartlepool was on so possibly nothing to worry about yet.

Been speaking to a few Bury fans and half aren't going to risk the trip for fear of late postponement. Not a representative sample by any means but I hope that if the match does go ahead we're not left with a less than ample following from the Shakers. Playing a game with such a local rival with the potential for a substantial away following on a Friday night really seems like a waste :(

Hopefully at a higher level than Clitheroe, though. Reports suggest he's too good a goalkeeper to be playing at their level.

New keeper on loan from Arsenal...Matt Macey. Although fishy site also says that Jack Rose is back and fit to play. Seamus Conneely could also figure tonight as Moly has gone back to Crewe and Matt Crooks has gone back to Hartlepool as both their loan spells have finished. Let's hope that we can get Moly back here as he is always a potential match winner and it sounded like he played really well at Exeter.
Also read Coley's comments about the forthcoming Bury match and I like what he says about the importance of tonights encounter.

Thanks for keeping me posted. I work at MRI hospital and its been raining steadily for the last hour. Will you keep your pitch covered at all?

Am pretty sure the forecast is for the rain to stop at around 8pm. If its covered until 7pm and the rain remains light then surely the pitch would be okay.

As a side note I am predicting a comfortable home win tonight so will be cursing the game if it is on.

Pitch will be inspected when referee arrives, normal practice :)

SHAKER1 09-01-2015 13:38

Re: Bury Match Thread

Accy say it's on as it stands, but if the rain gets heavier there might be a pitch inspection - no plans for that as yet though, plus they expect nothing more than on/off showers after 5pm.

Generally, it's not the length of time rain is falling that is the problem, it's the amount in a short space. The drains can usually cope with steady rain over a long period, but heavy rain over a short period can overload them - that's why last year's game got postponed.

Taken from our MB - sounds hopeful

Even if I could claim from the club I wouldn't. That's the risk you take at this level travelling at this time of year. Normally I wouldn't travel but the forecasts looked good for Burton as did the word for the club. Bury was 13 degrees and no mention of heavy rain when I booked the train tickets so I thought it was OK.

I would rather not take money out of the club especially when they have none. And it would be good if it was rearranged for the midweek after wimbledon as I'm off that week so may risk it again :o

You should get 95.5fm in Manchester. Sadly, it's only updates from Accy tonight:
BBC Radio Lancashire - Sport, 27/01/2015

Live Text is still here, though:
Match Coverage - Accrington Stanley FC

Let's hope that's an injury or fatigue based decision and not a transfer on the cards.

All Stanley first 15 mins and we should have made better use of winning the majority of the aerial battles. However Bury should have scored when there striker messed up a volley when 8 yards out around the 17 min mark. Burys centre half nearly got on the end of a whipped in free kick around 20 mins. Bury are trying to expose the flanks as we push up , their number 2 practically hugged the line from 25 mins onwards. Again that same defender number 27 arrived in the box with pace from a corner and caught Stanley asleep which went just over the bar around 38 mins. At the very end of the half bury again exploited Stanley s lack of pace and space down buxtons side but missed their chance again. A equal 1st half but bury should have taken one of their chances and Stanley need to rethink the tactics or close down the source of Burys passes to the left wing , as there is every chance Bury will not keep being so careless in the 2nd half. Buxton looks a lot more exposed than Winnard. Maguire and McCartan have done nothing while Joyce's decision making with the ball has been a second to slow.
