That's a fair point Cashy, but surely it didn't matter when you and redraine were playing as after five minutes you were covered from head to toe in mud !!, chasing a cannonball with leather nail stud boots on !!! 😀😀😀

True, but Stanley were always "The Reds";)

Knobhead Liberals v Traditionalist Moaners... I'd pay £15 to watch that friendly!

Personally I agree that the design is not Stanley and was disappointed in the club for choosing this kit. I gather it was slim pickings from stock designs but going into a different club design altogether was always going to be divisive.

That said, the kit has grown on me the more I've seen it. I think it looks better than any of the kits we've had in recent years and it may well be the first replica I've bought in a few seasons.

Go figure!

Strangely enough the same process went on in our house with her who must be obeyed. The initial 'stripe' shock has gone to liking it a lot.

Southampton broke with tradition two years ago and played in a nearly(white pin stripes)full red shirt and West Brom last season ditched their navy blue stripes for hard to notice pinstripes so other clubs experiment. Scunthorpe used to play in red shirts but changed their club colours to claret and blue. Arsenal played in burgundy shirts the other year,Bury played in sky blue and brown shirts the other year. Accept it folks,it's not permanent, though i do prefer it when we play in white shorts rather than red!:wub8:

Is that the right conclusion? All the examples you mention were changed back because the fans did NOT accept it!

But to be absolutely correct Bury and Arsenal didn't ignore their history, but rather tried to celebrate it. Bury had played in those colours 125 years earlier, and Arsenal (probably mistakenly) thought that their colours had been burgundy a 100 years earlier.

A club like Accrington Stanley should celebrate its history, not ignore it. Because it is what sets it apart. Without the history ASFC is just another Forest Green, or Stevenage!

I'm sure most of us over the age of 30 would love the game to go back to what it was, our national working class game. Sadly those days have long gone, the greed of tv and corporate business saw to that. The history doesn't go, however you have to find any means possible to keep a club like Stanley afloat and competing in the top 92 clubs in England. If that means a diversion from tradition now and again, the club have to go with it, it's not an option unless somebody throws a lot of money in to the club. The shirt choice this season was driven by commercial reasons, there is no buying power to 'design' a shirt like the big clubs. It is temporary and a home shirt with stripes may never be seen again :)

Oh so the fans who were not even consulted or opinions asked, do not want the club to stay afloat? Or perhaps they are of the opinion this will not help one iota.? I didn't expect to hear arse kissing crap from you dave, but lifes full of surprises.

That right there is good enough for me.

If someone is putting their hand in their pocket to have the shirt like it is then jobs a good 'un and well done to whoever got money from nothing.

Its a fact, they have changed from Stanley Red, without even considering History, Tradition, and Fans. A cast iron FACT.

Get real! Nobody has put their hand in their pocket. As Dave points out there is no money in designing a Stanley shirt. But that also means that nobody is paying for the stripes, not even the Barbers Guild.

More likely Mitre offered a set of shirts intended for Stevenage on the cheap!
