Should be Saturday 28th January, unless it's on TV (which is unlikely, methinks).

No chance of BBC or BT Sport I agree, but they put some games on Sunday anyway for the around the grounds thing the bbc does especially if one game is virtually over, and for showing highlights in play.

I think we will get £45 to £50k from the gate, 15,000k ish crowd.

Cup run over me thinks.

Maybe wishful thinking.

Re: Fa cup fourth round

Our game and Spurs v The Beast are the biggest potential "cupsets", so we might attract the cameras, assuming Sutton and Lincoln don't survive their replays.

Boro and Sunderland were the only possible Prem opponents where "away" means further for me to travel .... we'll see!

Middlesbrough have a premiership game on the tuesday after the cup tie
I think they will play a second string line up
They got 23,000 last round charging non season tic holders £15
I think we have a chance here to bring them back to the Wham

More chance of us being on TV than us being a founder member!

Re: Fa cup fourth round

Almost de-ja-vu from the last draw.
Down to 3 balls with City still in the drum!!!!!!!!!!!!
Still, better than someone like Brentford or Wycombe away.
We're going to play on a big stage against higher opposition & will raise our game. They've got bigger priorities & will field their reserves.
This is winnable, but the best result would be a draw to maximise revenue from a replay on TV.
If Burnley beat Sunderland in their replay, we may get some of their fans adding to our supporters.

Uptheboro 09-01-2017 23:59

Re: Fa cup fourth round

Hi and welcome again to the riverside.
Unfortunately for you guys we will not be playing a weaker team, maybe 1 or 2 players but it will almost be full strength.

I am pleased with the draw, hopefully Boro will get through this without any problems, I'd love to see us have a good cup run. It beats lingering around the bottom of the premier league scraping wins here and there.

Good luck guys anyway

Chrisr 10-01-2017 04:52

Re: Fa cup fourth round

I don't think Boro will risk being overturned on their turf again. I think they will be a bit too strong for us on the day. The cup will be as important to them as it is to us. The next round will almost certainly have a big club drawn against one of us. Heads up we have done it before and we can do it again.

a good chance of getting at least a draw up there as their home form is not great. a draw would be the best result for us financially as a replay back home could be a televised game. remember the league cup game us there when we had our first look at piero and a night to remember. pleased with the draw 90 mins up the a1 and a19, back home before 7 . it could so easily been norwich/southampton away.

The post from 'Uptheboro' persuaded me to wander over to their forum(s) to see what the general consensus was to their 'plum' 4th round draw.
Funny how your priorities change when you reach the top. While we were all willing fate to match us with Chelsea, they were absolutely bricking it!
OMG! We nearly got Chelsea, they cried in unison. Oh what a relief to draw little Stanley.
Apart from the umpteen links to the (yes, you've guessed it!) Milk advert, most feel they've already reached round 5.
HA! Don't they know we've already disposed of one premiership team this season & taken another to the 91st minute in another cup game, where it took a player employed purely for his free-kick prowess to overcome us.
Let them laugh. He who laughs last etc. And I know who will be laughing the longest when the final whistle blows at the Riverside.
Can't wait to hear Karanka's post match mangling of the English language as he attempts to say Accrington Stanley were 'erm, the erm, team better us than'

Just checked with trainline & the cheapest return fare is £37.70 and that's with a 30% railcard discount.
9.03 dep. Acc - arr. Boro 12.12, with 1 change at York. Or,
10.03 dep. Acc - arr. Boro 13.12
Return
18.27 dep. Boro - arr. Acc 21.20 (fastest journey time 2hr 53min)
Looks like the coach will be the cheapest option.
Wonder if we'll get subsidised coach travel, a la Wycombe?

That's usually how it works with trains once you get beyond a day return ticket.

Sometimes it's more obscure for example my tickets would be Dumfries to Seaham then Seaham to Middlesbrough.

Interesting article in the Telegraph about which games will/should be televised:
The five FA Cup fourth-round ties that should be on TV, and the five we think will be picked

It seems there are five altogether. Despite, possibly, being the lowest placed side left, we don't even get a mention!

True, in particular the LT - although they did go with a 'story' about the team's toaster being nicked from the changing rooms last week. Way to reinforce the tinpot label!

Any half decent paper would surely have run the toaster story with a "George Oghani" angle.
Former Dingles forward was a well known domestic appliance thief who (if memory serves) stole an ironing board (and used it to clobber the shop assistant when making good his escape).

Surely it could have been built up into some sort of major crime story? All the ingredients are there...football, revenge, a potential serial thief suspect, a small town with residents scared to leave their kitchen.

No wonder we've got no fans when opportunities like this are missed.

I believe the televised matches are normally announced within 48 hours but were delayed yesterday due to the FA looking into rescheduling of league games.

(that was via Twitter - so possibly complete balderdash)

There's a load of PL matches on the Tuesday after the cup weekend (inc Boro).

In other news, the ticket seller at the train station in Manchester this morning (who saw my Stanley bobble hat) was excitedly telling me how much he was hoping City had drawn Accy.

I bet they weren't the only ones willing this draw to happen.
Considering the monetary gulf between lowly Stanley & megabucks City, this would have been the FA Cup draw the whole of Britain, nay the world, would have been eager to see.
Every footie fan in the world would have been rooting for Stanley
Imagine the advertising revenues Sky sport would have made if only fate had intervened.
As Sky now control football, perhaps they should lobby the FA to ensure that, in future, premier league teams can only be drawn against league 2/non-league teams in rounds 3 & 4.
This would ensure a bumper payday for lower league clubs, who need it the most. After all, football is in the entertainment business.

Is the local papers worth bothering with anymore? I read plenty about Blackburn and Burnley. If we got through to the semi final do you think the telegraph would give us more than two lines? The Observer is now only published once per week and is Manchester-centric. Is it relevant anymore? They do give us a bit more space but it is usually a week behind. What other real alternatives are there.

Probably, I have noticed the quality of reporting in the local rags is abysmal. I would have thought that Stanley certainly deserves a lot more coverage even if it is painful at times than we get. This simply reinforces how as a football club playing league football we are not taken seriously. I would contend that if we were to get better coverage by the L.E.T it would help our cause.

So 3 pm Saturday for the game at the Boro. No TV Coverage so reduced income, maybe a few bob for the minimal highlights. If we get through to the next round and get a home draw, I hope the board will up the price to the TV companies or refuse the camera's entry to the ground. Put the fans first. I wonder if it will be the feature of radio lancs or will we reduced to the goal commentary only? perhaps if Stanley instituted a media ban more people would actually come to the game. Now there is a thought. Perhaps if every club outside the premier did the same then the FA would have to share the money more evenly on the lower leagues. Without us there would be no premier league. Revolution I say.

That'd be even better, proper neighbourly - bet City wouldn't have done that :D

It's a poor show when we get more info from a helpful Boro fan about ticket sales, prices & when available, than our own club.
Still nothing on Fishy about the now confirmed game.
Do we buy tickets from Stanley, or order direct from Boro?????????

Proabably depends on how many Accrington ask for.
The design on the stadium lends itself to changing the segregation and the access in the concourse. From away end in East stand its possible that you get offered seats in blocks round the corner to SE corner and South stand. If they only ask fo say 2000 then this would only be East Stand then we would try and sell the South and SE seats.
Normally will be a small amount of tickets sold on the day if any left. Can you not buy online? through AS.

When the Board decide this then our Media team can announce.

What's the rush???

I think we must ignore the fact that there has been a selling strategy for two similar games already this season. Presumably our board thinks it must start from scratch for this one. Even if the strategy for the two previous games was wanting, the faults could/should have been resolved by now.

If the prices are agreed between the clubs, what's the 'strategy' other IF SOMEONE WANTS A TICKET, SELL THEM ONE?

They aren't agreed between the clubs anymore, not for a couple of years now, but I agree sell to whoever wants one as the stadium will be half empty.

Last round they got a decent crown but it was a Yorkshire derby.
